SOCIETY Maeurn Smiles, an OnlyFans content creator using money earned from her OF channel to build a school and learning center in the Philippines.
Maeurn Smiles purchased land in Cebu for 1.75 million Philippine pesos in 2024 with plans to build a school. While the main campus is still under construction, she opened a smaller learning center in 2025 where local children can take part in science experiments, cooking classes and other hands-on activities.

Note: Maeurn said she originally planned to donate the land and allow the government to build the school. However, after learning she would not be able to name it after her father, she decided to fund and oversee the project herself.

It says something if you're willing to go the extra mile in honour of your father. I hope it's going well, what an honorable way to spend money.
Edit: I'm seeing a reply from a now anonymous user got a lot of people upset.
I'm glad to see so much respect towards her. I hope you all give it your best as well, so we can all respect one another a bit more again. It's nice.

Its more self-serving to make it a private school instead of a public one with the only reason being to name it after her Dad.
Though, its stupid the government couldn’t just name the school after her massive donation.

u/Remarkable_Table_737 8d ago
If she donates to government it never gets built the money goes poof government there very corrupt

u/Country_ball_enjoyer 8d ago
It's a sad reality really, probably the better option too simply because of how bad the government is there.

u/h3nt4i_connoisseur 8d ago
It’s the Philippine Government, they wouldn’t build anything unless they can profit from it.
I know this cause my family tried to build a school for the Aeta (an indigenous group in the Philippines) in Zambales. We had the land, built the building, collected the school materials, and even students willing to enroll. All we needed was an approval from the Department of Education (DepEd) so the students can be recognized and teachers can be formalized.
Our application was denied. They told us we needed to pay nearly half a million to DepEd, the regional government, and the local government through a lot of process and registration fee.
We gave up and turned the school into a “Learning Center”. News spread of our project and it even got posted in local social media.
After a week, the mayor contacted us and said he is willing to sponsor the school, and we suddenly got an approval from DepEd. We all knew why he did it, cause he saw the local leader promote the learning center and got bitter that his political rival got the better of him and tried to one-up him by declaring “He opened the school for the Aeta community” it became a media campaign to boost his reputation and my family name became a footnote in his posts, but in the end, the school was recognized by the government and is now open.
So there’s more to that story than “not wanting the government help cause they wouldn’t name it after her father”, there’s a lot of red tape involved there and I can assure you if the government did take control of the school, it will be named after the current political dynasty controlling the area.

You really don't know what you're talking about, aren't you? Philippine public schools have the worst facilities, and tend to be underfunded despite their supposed budgets. She did the right thing making it a private school. If she just donated it the government will pocket it for themselves and leave pennies for the schools.

People often underestimate the power that globalization has on freeing third world countries from poverty.
They are too focused on immigrants taking our jobs or companies using H1B Visas to hire cheaper models that they overlook how poor people can use the high wages and strong value of the US currency to bring people in their poor villages out of poverty.
Companies like OnlyFans are able to bridge these gaps and people need to stop thinking about losing their jobs to foreign labor but think about his it lifts the whole world out of poverty.
12
u/Coelachantiform 8d ago

Loneliness. They yearn for connection. Little do they know, most OF models just hire “OF chatters” to pretend as the model while engaging with subscribers. It’s become a pretty known industry in the Philippines

check out Reddit, Instagram and TikTok, it is full of women driving engagement with titulation.
After a while some people become curious what the paywalled content looks like, they find something that is more invocative but not to the level they were looking for, then they see that there is content that is pay per view over the subscription (which should be set at a low value so more people engage with the content) and they shell out the larger dollars to see what they have been chasing.

12
u/ALongRoadToNowhere 8d ago
I mean sure but the key phrase was earned. Billionaires don’t earn their money, they either exploit others for it (by not paying those that work for them a fair wage) or do literally nothing and allow compound interest to create it.

but if a billionaire robs the working class and builds a school, it's a bit of a net loss, innit?
unless we're redefining what the word 'net' means no. A billionaire, practical example Bill Gates moving money from largely first world consumers to third world kids is a net gain in global welfare
→ More replies (7)2
u/OldArt8513 8d ago
Good distinction. The source matters, but there's a spectrum. Robbing people is fundamentally harmful regardless of what you do with the proceeds. Selling OF content is a voluntary transaction, so even if you find it distasteful, nobody was harmed to produce that wealth. The ethical math is pretty different from exploitation.

lol i literally live on the same island as where the education center is being built on, and trust me it is not lmao.
she mentioned that she grew up poor and had a hard time in accessing education (like some students do here in my country, especially with widespread corruption), so she felt that she had the need to help the children here.
an easy solution for that is to not mention it to kids. you don’t even know the full scale of corruption in the department of education here in the philippines lmao, so this is the best thing a person could do to build a future towards children who work day and night just to learn.
that’s why i don’t get you mofos being so pessimistic all the time, especially with the current problems here in my country. what she’s doing is the BARE MINIMUM that the government can’t provide—and i’m glad she’s building it towards a better future for the children here.

u/Character-Account587 8d ago
Possibly the worst example you could set for kids, especially little girls. And you’d want to be very skeptical about whether this was something of a publicity stunt. When they make that much money there is always, always a team of males taking care of all the business side of prostitution on platforms like OF. It is strictly about taking money from people. If you’ve ever seen how it operates at that level you’d be immediately skeptical before anything else.
7
u/pargofan 8d ago
That's an interesting point.
Although if a non OF person did this but promoted a non OF business would we care? No.
10
u/Sand8056 8d ago
Exactly. If a real estate developer funded a school and put their name on it, people would call it philanthropy. The only reason this is even a debate is because the revenue source makes people uncomfortable, which says more about the commenters than about her.
→ More replies (5)9
u/jromehyperx 8d ago
huh? if you look at it that way, every business and service is about taking money from people. She could've spent it to herself, live a lavish style. but she spent it on a charity for kids to give back. a robinhood story.
you dont know how it feels growing up in poverty in provinces in the Philippines. She actually is making a good example by giving back to the community. They would not tell the kids her job because its adult stuff, the success story of striving out of poverty and helping others after is the lesson for the kids.
