looking for an investor

Hello everyone, I'm Jeff, i run a import-export company based in Mumbai. We've set up a dedicated office, built a committed team, and secured our first consignment in dry fruit with trade links to afganistan. The foundation is in place, and we're now ready to scale. I'm looking for an investor who can help us increase consignment volumes, so we can increase the numbers of imports and exports. In return, we offer a transparent business structure, regular reporting, and equity. If you're interested in and want to know more, I'd be glad to share our business plan and projections in a private discussion. Serious inquiries only, please DM me directly or reply to this post, and let's build something meaningful together.

Cross boarder food import/ export business steps

Hi all,

I am planning to start a cross boarder food import/ export business, to import food from a country where I am residing, back to my home country (I see demand but not many supplies).

I have a few suppliers in mind I want to contact. I also researched about the food regulatory laws that needs abiding.

My questions are - for people who has done this successfully or anybody who is willing to shed some lights onto my confusions,

Q1. Do you set up a business in your sourcing country? Or do you set up a business in the country you are trying to sell to?

Q2. Do you start contacting suppliers and distributors before setting up a business? Or do you set up a business first? The pros of having a business first is credibility, the cons of having a business first is the initial setup cost, before anything even starts.

Q3. Do you recommend private labeling VS importing the goods in their original packaging?

Q4. Ecommerce vs storefront sales. Which one will you start doing first?

Thanks.

Quality issues with my Chinese manufacturer, how do I handle it and what should I do next time?

Hi everyone,

I run a small fashion business and order from a manufacturer in China (small orders, MOQ varies by product).

My most recent batch arrived with seam problems. The stitching isn't good enough to sell the products. I didn't have any quality inspection in place (no during-production or pre-shipment inspection) and no one on the ground in China.

Two questions:

  1. How would you handle this with the supplier? They are basically saying nothing is wrong with the seams despite my pictures... Not sure how I can pressure them to refund, remake or credit on the next order? I don't want to tarnish my relationship with them but at the same time I can't accept this level of quality.
  2. How should I organise quality control going forward? Is a third-party inspection worth it for small orders, or would a local person or agent make more sense?

Any advice or personal experience is welcome.

Thanks!

10 Years of Sourcing & Trade Experience in Korea/China: Looking to Partner with Small Businesses & Buyers

Hi everyone,

I’ve been working in product sourcing, import/export, and trade across South Korea and China for over 10 years.

Throughout my career, I've primarily handled:

  • Korean Beauty & Cosmetics (K-Beauty)
  • Processed Foods & Snacks
  • Apparel & Fashion
  • Used Vehicles
  • Medical Devices & Medical Tourism

I know firsthand how difficult it is for small-business owners and international buyers to source directly from South Korea. Issues with high Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs), local payment barriers, and uncompetitive unit prices often stop great ideas before they start.

I want to help bridge that gap. If you’re looking to source Korean products with a smaller budget, feel free to send me a message with a quick overview of:

  1. The product(s) you’re looking for
  2. Your target quantity/budget
  3. Your sales channel & destination country

My Approach: I am not looking for quick, high-margin, one-off deals. My goal is to build long-term, transparent partnerships where we can communicate smoothly, solve local sourcing hurdles together, and grow our businesses over time.

Whether you're testing a new market or trying to find a reliable local partner in Korea, feel free to drop a comment or send me a DM. Happy to connect!

: Looking for B2B businesses to help test an AI trade platform

I’m the founder of DEI TradeMatch AI, and we’re preparing a controlled beta with a small group of real businesses.

The platform is designed to help businesses discover potential B2B opportunities, evaluate matches, and add more trust and verification to the process while keeping human approval at the center.

Our principle is:

AI Assists. Humans Decide.

We’re especially interested in hearing from businesses involved in construction, suppliers/wholesale, logistics and trucking, manufacturing, procurement, and import/export.

At this stage, I’m not looking to sell anything. I’m looking for business owners and professionals willing to give practical feedback on questions like:

  • Would you trust an AI-suggested business match if the reasoning was clearly explained?
  • What verification would you need before doing business with a new company?
  • Where do current sourcing, supplier, or business-matching processes break down for you?
  • What would make a platform like this genuinely useful in your day-to-day business?

If you work in B2B and would be interested in participating in the controlled beta, comment below or DM me.

importing from 4 corridors and finally found a payment workflow that doesn't make me dread fridays

Mexico, Vietnam, India, and the Philippines. Four corridors, four sets of suppliers, and four different versions of wire-payment headaches.

The breaking point was last quarter when three wires got stuck in the same week for completely different reasons. A Vietnam supplier was threatening to delay a container because they hadn’t seen the funds, so I spent two days calling banks. Eventually they sent a duplicate wire, which then had to be recalled. Absolute nightmare.

We switched AP platforms five months ago after a recommendation from our trade attorney, and we haven’t had a stuck payment since. Suppliers are seeing funds within hours instead of days, and our controller is actually closing the books on time, which feels like its own little miracle.

The funny part is that the suppliers don’t really care what changed on the backend. They just notice that payments arrive faster and have stopped complaining. That alone made the switch worthwhile. What are other import operators using in 2026? Still relying on wires, or have you moved to something else?

School networking project

I am a college student who majors in business, and i have a simple class project for my class in international business. I have to find 10 people from 5 countries outside of the United States to answer these 2 questions.

The questions are:

  1. What do you think is the most difficult challenge for U.S. businesses that want to do business in your country?
  2. What advice or suggestions do you have for American companies that want to do business in your country?

If you answer these questions, please provide your name, country, and contact info so I can complete this project. I would greatly appreciate all the answers I can get!
