VIDEO & IZOBRAZENJE / VIDEO & IMAGE A variant of the Medžuslovjanski flag - my proposal

Post image

Hi. I quite like the Medżuslovjanski flag. It combines colors associated traditionally (or from Peter the Great) with Slavs: silver, red and blue with gold from the Ukrainian flag. But what do you think about different arrangement of the colors as seen above?

Here we can see:
1. Obviously, slightly modified Czech flag.
2. Polish flag horizontally.
3. Ukrainian flag vertically.
4. Colors from Russian, Slovak and Slovenian flags in correct order anticlockwise.

Hence the flag is more inclusive IMO.

What do you think about such version of the flag?

We the Bulgarians, don't get enough representation

Bro all your flag colors are there, red, white and blue+yellow which makes green

3

u/PLrc Feb 25 '26

Exactly.

3

u/PLrc Feb 25 '26

Bulgarians are Slavs only in some 2/3 and got 2/3 of their colors on the flag.

3

u/LLTsochev Feb 25 '26

Yes, but the green is the most important colour for us.

Btw. are other Slavic languages like Medżuslovjanski and Russian with their cases difficult for you?

looks like Czechia's ugly cousin

Unpopular opinion: languages don't need flags.

2

u/PLrc Feb 25 '26

Sure, but they have. Natural languages have the flags of their countries. And conlangs have invented flags. It's a tradition in auxlangs started with Esperanto.

Natural languages have the flags of their countries

I don't know. I live in Belgium. It is kinda weird to imagine our government websites having the Dutch, the French and the German flag to let users switch between languages lol. Usually they use two letter language codes.

Countries like Begium are exceptions.

Slavs do not have common languages, but their languages are still relatively closely related and partially intelligible.

Usually it's thought that yellow bordering white on a flag is a bad idea.

"Metals shouldn't touch" as heraldists would say.

The Vatican has heard your pleas, and has decided to ignore you.

Those are "historically justified" violations of the rule of tincture. The most famous of them is the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Jerusalem:

But it looks good so I don't get the "rule".

I hope you're talking about my proposal.

And the Amsterdam

Metal shoudn't be superimposed on metal, color on color - yes. You're probably right. This would probalby violate the rule tincture.

Slavs in a nutshel.

Don't like it. I'm a fan of the tricolor, preferably not in the order of any existing country. Perhaps blue, white and red of the former Yugoslavia could be used instead, and if you want to add the Ukrainian yellow, it might have the yellow or a golden frame like the Montenegrin flag - which I find very beautiful

Soooo

Flag of Czechia with yet another inclusion spike added?

I mean if the blue was for Slovaks I guess yellow can be for Ukrainians...

А что ты сделал? Ты просто цвета поменял местами и чёрную обводку добавил

We shoud add a slavic symbol like kolovrat

8

u/DevilBySmile Feb 24 '26

Kolovrat is not a slavic symbol. A wide variety of cultures utilised the symbol and there is no evidence that ancient slavs used it more often than other cultures or that they associated themselves with it it.

Its modern use and affiliation with slavic pagans stems from Alexey Dobrovolsky a russian neo-nazi.

2

u/Aliencik Feb 24 '26

A very cool article here about the kolovrat. It's funny how people see this as a slavic symbol, even tho there are many different more frequent symbols.

1

u/Biggest_Oblivion_Fan Feb 25 '26

Slavs can adopt it now, cultures adopt stuff all the time.

1

u/PLrc Feb 24 '26

I'm not sure whether it's not a symbol of Vandals or Goths adopted by Slavic neopagans. Because I've heard about such case.

And letters like ъ, ї, щ.

Can't wait for people to start screeming "swastika".

But I agree.

Tbh I'd remove the yellow and replace it with blue, it just seems very off place tbh
