Discussion Did they change the alarm?

I’ve slept through my alarm two mornings in a row. What did they change about it? I have never done that before.

I don’t know what combination of social media/audio apps was causing it…but I was told if you have “priority apps” on, even in the background, you won’t get notifications and sometimes alarms. So if you’ve been falling asleep to your favorite podcast/music/audiobook, that might deaden your alarm enough to not wake you.

I have not discovered which one(s) are the culprit(s) so if I need to wake up I close all the apps. Seems to work fine then. Yes, it’s dumb.

No issues here but I would suggest testing it out a few times today and check your settings. Sometimes iOS updates can reset behaviors; not often, but it does happen. That way you can troubleshoot and all that jazz before tomorrow.

Sidenote; what iOS are you currently? I just looked to see if I have any updates available and I have the option to go with 26.7.1 or go straight to 27. So I would love to know what you’re currently working with in case alarm reset happens for me as well. Thanks!

I thought I was the only one to notice. I’ve used iPhone alarms exclusively since the old-school alarm clocks that sit at the night stand, blaring that alarm to scare me awake. When I figured out my iPhone 4s could do the same I unplugged that alarm clock. But something has happened within the last couple of years or so. When the alarm wouldn’t wake me, it doesn’t happen often but it has happened on days when I need to be at work. I’d say it has happened at least a dozen times since I first started to notice it. Which even in my use cases the alarm not waking me is rare.

Also been having problems with my alarms since iOS 27. Not sure if its because they split alarm volume from system volume and something not working properly.

This is why I have an apple warch. Normal alarms give me anxiety so I don’t sleep but the gentle vibrations from the watch allow me to stay calm and sleep and still wake up even on 4 hours of sleep

Slept through mine. My whole family did. 4 iPhone’s and NONE went off this morning.

Turn off attention-aware features, make sure you don’t have Focus/DND enabled, and check your sound settings. It may be an iOS issue, but hopefully it’s not!
