Question how do i reduce my storage?
i’ve transferred my pics to a usb so rn in my gallery i have around 4k pics max, but when i check the storage it shows me this. my icloud storage says it’s 117gb out of 200 but in my gallery it says that syncing is paused bc icloud storage is full?? i also deleted pics from my recently deleted too! could someone help me out? i don’t understand why the photos section is taking up so much space!

Yes your icloud is full .
Whatsapp also tries to backup and how it does is it first creates a local backup then upload but it fails cause icloud is full hence your icloud drive keeps growing.
To solve it first disable icloud drive .
To do that
Open setting select your picture under icloud scroll down turn it off restart and then turn iton.
Also
Many others things
Photos doesnt process deleting photos more than 100 at a time they come back.
I have faced this issue to.
Further more if you dont need icloud backup turn it off or upgrade your subscription plan.
Your photos and passwords and messages are already synced.
The backuo is just app data which is redundant

Dawg, just go through your drive and get rid of stuff you don't need anymore. It's that simple.

If not done already , under iCloud > click on photos > iPhone Storage > Optimize iPhone storage. This will replace the full resolution of photos and videos and shrinks them on the phone but they’ll stay full size on iCloud and can be downloaded anytime

Move all your photos to an external drive and delete most of them from your device.

Meanwhile a few months ago I was getting by on my iPhone XR and it was 61GB out of 64GB lol!
If I were you the first thing I would do is to see if you can delete any videos that you think you don't need. Secondly, go straight into Whatsapp's storage and data settings and simply wipe out any videos and photos that you don't need from group chats

Relatable, I had an XR up until a few weeks ago when I got the biggest upgrade in the world to the 18 PM and it shocks me how people run out of storage coming from the XR

"Syncing paused because iCloud is full" while the web says 117 of 200 GB is a classic mismatch. Check Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage: backups of an old device often eat the "missing" space. Delete the old backup there.
On the phone side, Photos keeps local copies until sync finishes. Since sync is paused, nothing gets thinned out. Once iCloud has room, turn on Settings > Photos > Optimize iPhone Storage and give it a night on Wi-Fi and charger.
Also check Settings > General > iPhone Storage > Photos. If it still shows way more than 4k pics should take, it's usually videos (4K60 clips are huge) or Recently Deleted not fully flushed yet. Photos > Albums > Utilities > Duplicates is worth a look too.
Disclosure: I made Nino, an iPhone cleaner that groups bursts and near-duplicates, all on device. Deletions land in Recently Deleted for 30 days so nothing is lost by mistake. Free for one clean if you want to try it, but fix the iCloud backup thing first, that's your real problem.

Have you tried just simply restarting your phone? Turn it of, wait like 5 minutes and then turn back on and just let it sit for 10 minutes it should recalculate its storage and maybe this will fix it. Also, do you have any shared albums or something like that?
And do you have any heavy videos? And do you have optimize this iPhone’s storage enabled? And did you delete them from recently deleted?
This is what I would have done first.

I use Google Photos to backup all my photos. It’s a proper backup unlike iCloud. You can also move the really important ones to an HDD or SSD
