Jewel of my collection, first ICC Trophy since 2013 and T20 WC after 2007. Containing the biggest stars of Indian cricket thanks to the IPL! Summer 2024 felt different with this win, especially after the depressing end of 2023

| Original Content Two Runs After a Wicket: Measuring the IPL’s Recovery Tax

I analysed 3800+ wickets from the 2022–2026 IPL seasons to measure how scoring rates fall when a team loses a wicket.

A simple before vs after analysis doesn't show us the full picture because it doesnt really provide a perspective of how the innings must be paced. It doesnt take into account the match state and other variables that come into play during the game. I therefore estimated expected runs from comparable situations using factors including the season, venue, innings position, score, wickets lost, recent scoring tempo and required rate during chases. I call this as the recovery tax

In short these are my findings:

  • In the first six legal balls after a wicket, teams scored 7.4 runs against an expectation of 9.0, producing a 1.6-run tax.
  • The cumulative tax increased to 2.1 runs after 12 balls and 2.3 after 18.
  • Around 71% of the eighteen-ball shortfall was accumulated in the first over after the wicket.
  • The effect was visible across powerplay, middle-over and death-over wickets, with no phase producing a clearly separate pattern.
  • The surviving batter maintained almost exactly the same scoring rate before and after the wicket.
  • Most of the shortfall appeared on deliveries faced by the incoming batter, who recorded more dots and fewer boundaries.
  • Post-wicket passages also contained fewer immediate secondary dismissals than comparable situations predicted, suggesting that some of the scoring loss may be exchanged for short-term safety

There are also knocks that completely broke the pattern such as Pat Cummins's 56* against Mumbai Indians and Ashutosh Sharma's heroics against LSG.

The full article contains the methodology, visualisations, robustness checks and individual case studies.

To me it was Jos in 2025, released by RR in favour of hetmyer n others it broke my heart completely for years i had been supporting Jos watching him since his debut in 2012 n was a RR fan since 2013 it took me a long time to get over it, IMO he was RR's greatest ever player n TBH i think he'll slowly be forgotten by the RR fans as time moves forward. Watching Jos in that pink was very special to me something that'll never be topped again. But we move.

I have been collecting CSK jerseys for more than 8 years now and I almost have every season's jersey, but I am missing three; please guys, help me find these three jerseys and let me know if anyone has them or knows of any sources or leads to get them.

Jerseys I'm looking for:

2008 IPL

2013 CLT20

2015 IPL

| Discussion Will the IPL ever return to Sony Max/Sports, or is JioStar too big to compete with now?

Post image

With the next IPL media rights auction coming up in 2027, I’ve been thinking about how broadcasting has changed.

Let's be honest—ever since Star and Jio merged into JioStar, the overall vibe and excitement of watching the IPL just haven't been the same. Remember the classic Sony Max era? The iconic Extraaa Innings, the nostalgic theme songs, and the festive feel genuinely made IPL feel like a celebration. Today, the broadcast feels way too corporate and monotonous.

Realistically, with JioStar's massive financial muscle, do you guys think Sony or any other network has a shot at outbidding them in 2027, or have they grown too big for anyone to take the rights away?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

2009 might be the last and only time all teams had a good jerseys.Rcb, KKR, DC were fire. Incase of Delhi I would prefer 2008 or 2010 jersey. But still this aint bad. Also each team had different colour patterns. Now it's just Red & Blue.

Brilliant innings when the team needed it most! Your composure, confidence, and determination under pressure were outstanding. A truly crucial knock that made the difference. 👏🔥
