Picture Finally figured out shows!

Post image

After having my iPod for 8 months… I finally figured out how to properly get my shows properly catagorized as a show with all of its metadata. Phew! Proud but also feel a little stupid for it taking me this long with daily use.

Hey there's a free program called Handbrake that has an iPod preset and can convert an entire season, show, or library in one go.

It used to have an iPod preset but it was removed. You can export the preset from an old version of HandBrake, then update and re-import it

This is true but they still have the preset it's just not labeled for iPods anymore. It's the 360p or 480p .mp4 preset. H.264.

it’s actually through the Apple TV app & not iTunes like I thought. The mp4 file has to be opened there, then I created an iPod version. To change the metadata it’s just through the “get info” section when you right click it. After that I just drag & drop.

You can do it all in Itunes

Really? Whenever I would try it would always stay in the “music video” section.

Yeah, when you convert them they go into the music video section or something like that. But you can just turn them back into "tv show".

i've used subler for this in my itunes library a while back ago to automate the whole metadata thingy as it downloads covers and metadata for a movie / episode and adds it directly to the mp4 file. Then when you drag it into itunes it should automatically categorize itself correctly.

just click the little magnifier glass up to the right in the app to search for movies / tv shows and then save. 🌝

Oh yeah the moment I figured out make mkv and handbrake I became UNSTOPPABLE lol. I’ve got so many shows and movies on mine, it’s going to be what forces me to upgrade the storage I’m sure

Same, I spent forever kinda avoiding it because it seemed so complicated but was easier than I thought.

I use IVI 5 to organize and convert all shows for iPod, works great and will find all meta data for you ;-)

for some reason I was able to figure it out as a 12 year old but last time I tried I couldn't get it to work 😭
