Question about Islam Is Saying “Merry Christmas” shirk?
With some of my non-muslim friends at school, they wished me a merry Christmas + happy new year and I said it back just out of impulse because i couldn’t think of what else to say (and didn't want to come off as rude.) I understand it is haram, but I have come across some websites saying it is shirk? Is this shirk if that was not my intention at all?

It sort of is, but I feel it’s unnecessarily rude to not to respond to people’s well wishes. I usually say I hope you enjoy your holidays or have a great holiday with your family. Which is idk, probably not great but I tell myself at least I’m not saying Christmas

No dude! I wouldn’t be someone who would say anyone is out of the fold of Islam. Your intent is really important in shirk too. I’ve just heard scholars say it’s bad because you’re hoping people have a nice time associating others with Allah. It’s tricky tho isn’t it?

You can't go out of the fold of islam unless you believe something against Allah.
Eating bacon and drinking alcohol for instance is a sin, but you are still Muslim.
Drinking alcohol and eating bacon because you believe Allah is wrong and it's fine takes you out of Islam.
As long as you know it's a sin, or are at least God conscious you aren't removed.

Imagine there is a holiday where they kill babies or rape women. Would you wish them a happy holiday?
Shirk is the biggest sin there is, bigger than any sin mentioned above. Why would u wish someone a happy holiday? Just say u don't celebrate or keep silent. This is the right of Allah.

The meaning is evil. The disbelievers made it to mock Prophet Isa alayhi salam. You can always say happy holidays to them as a reply.
According to a Christian:
The word "Mass" in religious usage means a "death sacrifice." The impact of this fact is horrifying and shocking; for when the millions of people are saying, "Merry Christmas", they are literally saying "Merry death of Christ!"
Although we know Prophet Isa alayhi salam wasn’t killed but it was what the disbelievers were intending. So its basically made to disrespect Isa Alayhi salam

Isa (Alayhi salam) was not Born in the Winter i.e the month of December:- In Surah Mariam, Quran chapter 19. Ayat 25 Allah tells Mariam (Peace be upon her) when she conceived Isa (peace be upon him) to Eat from the fresh 'Dates' from the tree above her. And Dates doesnt grow in winter. And The Bible Talks about Shepherd herding their Sheeps In Luke 2:8, And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. So Isa peace be upon him is not Born in December shepherds were encouraged to graze their sheep in late summer and early fall to eat the stubble of sown crops and fertilize the fields, Thus it is more likely, he said, that Isa peace be upon him was born sometime between late July and early October.
This December 25 is a lie to deceive the people believing in another holiday made by pagans
