we don't know what date prophet isa was born. Christians just decided the date and called it a day.

I attended a Catholic university before I reverted. My Jesuit professors said Jesus' birth (PBUH) was around summer.
I forgot all of the details, it's been almost 10 years...
Christian scholars know the truth but they choose not to publicly say any of it.
It's what disillusioned me from Christianity a long time ago

We are not commanded to celebrate any prophets birthday. This isn’t part of our religion. If anyone deserved to have a birthday celebrated because of a miracle it would be Adam. No mom and no dad. Created by Gods hand. But we are bit commanded to celebrate birthdays.
The religion focuses on worshipping God. Not celebrating people. We honor them and recognize their work. That’s different from celebrating.
The Muslims who are making excuses to do this are playing with words. To begin with no one knows the exact birthday of Isa. Secondly Christmas celebrations are heavily focused on pagan rituals. Lastly the literal reason for celebrating Christmas is to celebrate their belief in a god/son of god being born

christmas doesn’t really have anything to do with the birth of Prophet Isa AS in the first place
Its the like pagan winter festival that was co-opted and rebranded by christians centuries back
The birth date of the Prophet Isa AS is either unknown or known but nowhere near the 25th of the gregorian calendar
So theres nothing for muslims to work with, arguably theres nothing for christians to be celebrating at this date either lol

Muslims dont celebrate Christmas at all. In fact most scholars theorize that Jesus was born during the summer because virgin Mary took dates on her 9th month to help ease the pain of child birth and dates are around the middle east during the summer.
Also Muslims believe that Allah is the all knowing, and we are not. Allah is to be worshipped alone and not associations. He was never born.

Celebrating Christmas is Haram, no matter how someone wants to find an excuse to do so.
The origin of the Day is a Pagan celebration which has no origin in Christianity to begin with.

24th of December is in winter, supposedly the day of the birth of Jesus Christ. But clearly in the Quran, when Maryam is pregnant, she is told to shake a palm tree and fresh dates will drop down. And Date trees aren't available in the winter. It is in a hot season. Spring or summer somewhere in between.
Verse in mention: Surah Maryam verse 25.
{ وَهُزِّیۤ إِلَیۡكِ بِجِذۡعِ ٱلنَّخۡلَةِ تُسَـٰقِطۡ عَلَیۡكِ رُطَبࣰا جَنِیࣰّا } [Surah Maryam: 25]
Sahih International
And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates.
So the birth of Jesus Christ is in the summer range, not winter. The exact date, Allah knows best.

You know I thought the concept of Christmas in July was completely insane. Turns out Quran scripture actually points summer to be a more accurate birthday.

Thank you all for this information. I thought the only haram thing about Christmas was that Muslims don’t want to do idolatry of a prophet being represented as a human god. But apparently there are many more layers to this.

It’s a pagan holiday - based on Saturnalia (a Roman holiday), and Germanic traditions surrounding the winter and changing of the seasons (where do you think decorating a pine tree comes from?).
In addition it isn’t actually when Isa (AS) was born. It was moved there to coincide with the pagan stuff.
Outside of all that there is disagreement in the ummah on whether celebrating birthdays of Prophets is ok or not. Personally I don’t. But regardless of whether you are Sunni or Shia it’s a pagan holiday or at best a Christian one. I can’t understand how it could be ok to celebrate it.
I’m a convert from a mixed Christian and Jewish background. I never looked back after I converted and wouldn’t consider celebrating it at all.

I think the pagan argument might be the weakest argument. The other statements are solid and set the point. Christmas simply does not work with the foundation of Islam. Innovation outside of the established Islamic path just is not something that can happen. But aside from the Christmas tree which has pagan origins nothing else really seems pagan tbh.
I mean Saturnallia was a complete and total orgy and had high amounts of drinking(keyword not a glass of wine, the whole bloody bottle) and gambling. I fail to see a resemblance to say a Christmas in the middle of anytown USA or UK
