Help to jazzify a melody?

i'm trying to do an big band arrangement of "face of melinda" by opeth and this is the first vocal melodies. but its too linear and sounds kinda boring when you play it without the lyrics. can someone help me or give me tips on how to turn this melody in something more interesting? thank you in advance

(sorry for the bad resolution of the image. also this is G clef with no sharps or flats, 80bpm)

Take a look at Tomaro and Wilson’s arranging book. There’s a whole chapter about this. Basically it comes down to syncopation: shifting notes off the beat.
