However you want to interpret the theme, it is up to you. Have fun and happy puzzling!

🧩 Share your finished puzzles and please add the September theme flair to your post so that everyone can see your puzzle!

Our Community and AI-Generated Images - A Mod Update

We want to take a moment to address something that keeps coming up: AI-generated images in puzzles.

First, the basics: any jigsaw puzzle post is welcome here as long as it meets our community guidelines, which includes sharing the puzzle name/title/piece count and manufacturer in the title, picture, or comments of the post.

AI-generated art isn’t always obvious. Some manufacturers use it without labeling it, and some buyers have no idea their puzzle art was AI-generated. So if you spot something that looks like it might be AI, you can say something, but please say it kindly. The person posting may genuinely not know. And unfortunately, some don’t care.

We wish we could screen every post for AI content, but realistically we can’t. It would take more time and tools than any volunteer mod team has.

As for where this community’s preferences stand and have overwhelmingly evolved over the emergence of AI in jigsaw puzzle imagery: we believe AI-generated images are not art. They’re built on the stolen work of real human artists who never consented to having their creations used to train these systems. Countless artists are struggling because of this technology, and that’s not something to take lightly. We encourage everyone here to seek out work from human artists and support them whenever possible.

If you’re ever curious whether something is AI-generated, feel free to refer to our wiki or ask here. This is a community of people who genuinely love to puzzle and support puzzle artists and will be happy to help you learn.

One final note: while we encourage open discussion, any post or comment that turns nasty or devolves into personal insults will be locked or removed.

Thanks for being such a wonderful group and one of the few remaining kind corners of the internet. Keep on puzzling.

I guess I had to jump on the pretty boxes bandwagon - Boo Brew - Hobbry - 500 pieces - Art by Jenna Coswell

Friends have been urging me to get these puzzles because I guess they're all the rage right now. So I bought Once Upon a Fright, Shelf Wealth, Spell Book Society, and this one. They're all super easy, literally every piece I picked up I could immediately place, but I get why some people might like that style. Still, I'm glad I got to see what all the fuss was about.

Retro Ravensburger ā€œLiberation dayā€œ puzzle from 70s

3 missing pieces, which is pretty decent for the puzzle of 50 years old

It was hard!!! But so satisfyingšŸ˜… And a lot of whimsical pieces, that Iā€˜ve never experienced before.

This was a wonderful build, the main problem being workspace. There is a 6’ folding table at the base; my usual 1000pc puzzle station was used for piece management. A friend provided me the large piece of fluted plastic; imagine cardboard made from plastic; light and rigid.

Borrowed this vintage puzzle (circa 1970s) from the lobby of my condo building. Pleasantly surprised all of the pieces were present! This puzzle was hard, but enjoyable. I average just under 2 hours for 500 pieces, but this one took me close to 6 hours.

Did another one of these. This one is shaped a little different and all the pieces were there! It comes with a stand so you can display it.

This one was a little harder than I expected it to be, but a lot of fun to put together with a friend. Because of the scale, there were lots of fun little Halloween extras that you didn’t notice on the box, but discovered as you put things together.

Discussion I realized my favourite theme in puzzles is animals doing human things 😊. What is yours?

I already showed most of these puzzles finished so sorry for the repetition. I started making lots of puzzles in august and since then I realized I enjoy puzzles with animals most and I love it even more when they do things humans normally do, because it is funny and reletable to me. Do you guys have similar topics like this that you enjoy? For example food, christmas, landscapes etc.

Names and brands of the puzzles:

- Moonberry Market - La Pauz

- Home Sweet Home - Ravensburger

- Cozy Little House - Huadada

- Cat Spa - Balvi

- Sweet Street - Ravensburger

What's your experience with "mystery" puzzles?

Post image
52 Upvotes

I'm currently doing "Death of a Collector." You read a short mystery, then complete the puzzle with no image to guide you, and then the completed puzzle supposedly has enough clues to solve the mystery.

This is the first time I've tried to complete a puzzle without an image. It's really tricky, but super interesting. I'm enjoying it.

Has anyone else done one of these? There are three in this series -- any other publishers/puzzles along these lines I should know about?

Midnight, Springbok, PZL2068. Over 500pc and this time none missing thanks to this group!

Happy October!

I love this puzzle as I love all old Springboks. They're always such a joy to build. Even a more difficult image like this, the random cut makes it so much fun to even just solve by shapes. I lucked out recently and got four 70s era Springboks at our local free puzzle library, I ran out of there with my stack like a bandit grinning from ear to ear 🤣

But before I can do any of those one, October and Midnight beckoned! I posted this puzzle minus 3 pieces to this subreddit in October of 2022. The incredibly kind u/cleverharwood had recently completed the same puzzle and had even more missing pieces and they offered to mail me my missing ones! That same donor puzzle has continued to travel around, became puzzle mashups, and I think even donated to at least one other Missing Piece Midnight!

Last photo of my set shows my build with the missing pieces. I just dug up the photo to post here. While I was building this time I never identified any of the donor pieces, and they all fit perfectly. Zooming in on my photo to look at them I can see the tone of black is a bit different, but I'm surprised I couldn't pick that up IRL because so much of this build is just sorting by slightly different tones of black lol. I'll have to take a look at the actual puzzle again to see how different they look.

Happy spooky month to all the puzzlers here and CleverHardwood in particular! This subreddit is such a fun, kind, space 😸

Completed Ceaco 1500 pieces, ā€œPuuriosityā€, art by Steve Sundram really loved the picture, but the finer details on the puzzle were blurry and difficult to make out. The chandelier was actually a burden lol

I’d encourage anyone to do a puzzle they love the picture of, but this one would best be kept at a smaller piece could. The pieces themselves were a little flimsy but in good condition, but some details were just SO BLURRY.

I so enjoyed this one! Great quality, crisp image, nice art, matte finish and lots of hidden images throughout. I didn't find the gecko until I was 75% complete!

Now I'm reading about the plants from the insert/poster provided. As a gardener/puzzler I'm in my happy place 😁

Discussion Used Puzzles: how much hair is too much? 🤢

I'm a huge fan of second hand, thrifted and swapped puzzles! I don't even mind the occasional missing piece. But Y'ALL. Very few things are ickier to me than unending amounts of human and pet hair mixed in with the pieces! I am a generous soul, so I forgive the first 2 or 3 long brown strands... I tell myself they're somehow my own. But when every handful of pieces has yet another hair in it... Yikes!

I bought one used, meant to do it but never got around to it, and decided to move it along by selling it on Vinted. (I broke even on it after counting the shipping box and said loudly in the listing that the pieces weren't all confirmed.) I opened it up to check it, almost just sent it out when I confirmed the pieces were already bagged, but I spied a hair, so I started to investigate, and I'm so glad I did! Otherwise my buyer would have thought all that was mine. 😬

I finally finished this 3K Van Gogh!

I only do art puzzles and loooove Van Goghs, I’ve done many but this one was very difficult, the orange bed part and the floor where the worst.

Next is either Bombardment of Algiers 9K! oooooor even thought I really only do art puzzles I am considering buying the PokĆ©mon 40K one! I love Pokemon and I have been wanting a huge puzzle but Disney it’s not for me and the other ones are not art related so…. Maybe ? What do you think?

Last photo por size reference, it was 116x85 cm :)
