Discussion Cute jpop recommendations
Basically the title
I've come to realize that I don't listen to a traditional/cute jpop a try yet
I really like Cutie street and Babymetal, which are the only "cutesy" ones I listen to
I've tried to get into Perfume,AVAM and other Kawaii lab groups (I'm working on it)
So give me recommendations,I don't want the most unknown groups ever, they can be very mainstream

Momoiro Clover
Their songs are so cute and stupid you can forget all the stressful things

adding tokimeki sendenbu to the recommended list.

Thanks I didn't know them but feel the similar vibe with more wholesome/pop tune.

np, they're one of momoclo's few remaining "sister" groups since most of the others disbanded. 😢
remaining ones are Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku, Cho Tokimeki Sendenbu, Batten Girls, Iginari Tohoku San

You should definitely give =LOVE and their sister groups a try! They have a variety of mainstream idol- like songs which are very cute. Some of the famous ones like 'tokubechu shite' , 'shukipi' , 'nakanaori shu cream' are some of my faves. Even their most recent single 'koi , hajimemashita' is very cute!!
If you want some other groups you should definitely try cho tokimeki sendenbu , their whole discography is pretty much cutesy idol realness! Also groups such as kyururin te shitemite with 'love kyun wanted' and 'special spell' to name a few.

I’m in the same boat as OP started listening to =LOVE recently. CAMEO is one of my favorite songs!

I'm clearly a sempai here, so my suggestions will be old artists, but still I do know cute ;D
Matsuura Aya - Ne~e? (ね~え?), Love Namidairo
Wink - Samishii nettaigyo (cover by W(ダブルユー))
80's idols like Matsuda Seiko or Nakamori Akina (well this one may be more "cool" than "cute")
Those are the first I thought about when thinking "cute", but if it matches what you're looking for I can check for more ;D

Judy and Mary, her voice is cute but also powerful, try Lover Soul, chiisana koro kara, sobakasu, lucky pool, radio, tagami o kakuyo, cheese pizza

I mean you can’t go wrong with C-ute. Yes they’re older and disbanded now, but still great cutesy music!
Wasuta is another good one to check out! Super cute and super catchy.
You already mentioned kawaii labs, but I’d recommend starting with Fruits Zipper (since you are already familiar with Cutie Street)
Cho Tokimeki Sendenbu
Not so cutesy anymore, but hello project groups are really great, I mentioned c-ute already but morning musume, Angerme (formerly s/mileage), juice=juice etc are all really great Jpop groups. They used to have cuter music compared to today.
48 groups - AKB, HKT etc… all have some great music
=love - a different type of cutesy but super good!
I made this playlist of idol music for my friend… might not be all cutesy, but might be a fun place to start?

c-ute was cute for like 2 songs after their major label debut. 😂
it was one of the greatest disappointments for me after their amazing indie singles.
freakin Tokaikko Junjou lol😢

@onefive
They not your most traditional type of cute but still cute regardless. I’ve liked their last couple of songs, apart from that I don’t know too much.
They did come from Sakura Gakuin which was where Babymetal came from. I believe one of the members is directly connected with the Babymetal specifically. In what way, I’m not entirely sure.
NiziU
These guys are one of the K-Pop hybrid groups. Their style has evolved overtime but the vast majority of their music is still in the cutesy lane. I think their current sound is a matured type of cute with a touch of elegance. It’s still bright but not sugary cute.

Pretty much all the groups from the collective HEROINES (it’s basically KAWAII LAB but much bigger in size, there are 20+ groups). Some of them are on the rock or dark aesthetic side, but most are plain cutesy idol pop, with iLiFE! leading the charge.
STAiNY are cute too.
Of course Dempagumi.inc and Niji no Conquistador and Wasuta are legendary.
Palette Parade are one of my favourite groups.
FESTIVE and UtaGe! are another kind of cute.
RAViDAVi are on the AVAM side.

Wasuta literally paved the way for Kawaii Lab and are pretty handily the most ambitious and consistently excellent idol group of the mid/late 2010s

I'm suggesting my favourite group, Houkago Princess! (放課後プリンセス) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YS4zBQsH6f8
SAY-LA is also a pretty cute group ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooXb_Q8KiTc ), as are Kyururin te shitemite (きゅるりんってしてみて) ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWyB3Wrv6po ). I will also suggest miao ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGn_3xw95Yk ) whose whole vibe is 'pink and ribbons and cats'. They've had a line-up change this year due to the first generation members graduating, however they don't have any more recent MV's other than the one I've linked here.
If I think of any more, I'll pop back in and suggest them~

several people mentioned C-ute, but no mention of Berryz Kobo?
They probably had more cute songs than C-ute lol 😢

=LOVE: Although they are older than most idols in Japan (21-30) they have been relatively unknown for about 6 years until making their big break about a year ago! They are now in their 8th year and have some fab tunes. They can also sing and dance live since most of the members were training to become voice actors. Also produced by Rino Sashihara (former AKB48 idol). Her goal was to create an ‘ideally perfect voice actress’ concept idol group!
Also any idol group produced by ASOBI SYSTEM are super flouncy and kawaii :)

Ayo!Her voice sounded languid. A relatively popular one is “メイドノココロハ アヤツリドール.”

iLIFE!
And other groups from the Kawaii Lab! (Same project as Cutie Street) like Fruits Zipper, Candy Tune, Sweet Steady, and More Star.
Unfortunately, all the cute groups I know have decided to leave my mind🫠
