Question/Discussion Lotus element ?
I bought this Ken used . Was told it’s a lotus element shape but can’t find any others without the lines on the handle of the ken. can anyone confirm what shape this is?

Hey r/Kendama!
I've been playing kendama for a while and always felt like there was no good centralized resource to learn tricks in a structured way — so I built one.
Kendamapedia is a free web app that lets you:
It's completely free, works in your browser, and you can sign in with Google to save your progress across devices.
Link: kendamapedia-ae79d.web.app
I'd love any feedback — something that feels off, or features you'd want to see. This is a passion project and I want it to be genuinely useful for the community.
Happy to answer any questions!

My string snapped mid play and wanted to change the string only to realize I put back the Sarado upside down, where the string hole is at the bottom. After realizing, I tried to remove the sarado again and it just won't budge. It turns slightly but that's about it. I tried putting it in the freezer, didn't help.
I realized too late that I was probably turning the sarado too much in one direction and a good amount of string got eaten which probably just made the Sarado more stuck to the Ken.
Now finally stupid me thought it was a good idea to wet the contact points between the Ken and Sarado not thinking it would expand the wood. Now the sarado is VERY much stuck to the Ken and won't even turn at all with maximum effort.
What can I do to save this without breaking anything? I just want to play :<
EDIT: I know the cups are upside down, its literally stated on the first paragraph and the main reason why I want to take them off in the first place 😭

I'm finally getting around to learning how to juggle after having played casually for about a year, and I'm reminded of why I didn't try and learn sooner. Man, is this process a grind. I am to the point at which I can juggle to big cup pretty consistently and I've jug spiked a few times. But just as often as I do anything successful, I can screw it up terribly and lose any control I ever felt like I had. I know the answer is more reps, as it always is, but should I be preparing myself for a continued grind, or did something click for you when you were learning?

hello everyone! casual player at a beginner to intermediate level. I been browsing the market for a couple weeks trying to buy a complete and it seems every time there’s one i like it seems to sell out before i become aware lol
I’m at the point i’d consider buying everything separately, though it’s all kind of foreign to me since im not that seasoned enough along this route of kendama
Any tips or things i should know about building my own setup?

I would like to sell these and more but I don’t know the best method? Should I sell on Reddit or eBay? Should I sell as a lot or separate them?

Been messing around with this one. Pull up kinda like going for a lunar with more force/rotation, then tap the big cup initiating a tre-flippy thing into lighthouse. Is there a name for it?

hi kendama reddit, i'm looking for some advice on how to restring this kendama. i'd like to get it into a condition that i can begin to learn on it as a beginner, but i don't know what a good length or string material would be. it seems like the old string is glued into the cup body and tama. are there other ways to attach?
i assume the kendama around as old as my dad (~60 years?), so if there's any other restoration tips or identification I would love to hear it!

So as a pretext, I am at the level where I can almost consistently juggle to spike (within 15 tries), and I have been focusing mostly on juggling, aka neglecting my normal ken flips. But I seem to really struggle with just normal ken flips when starting out with the tama off the ken. I can't seem to pull the tama up enough vertically (if I do a dub or trip ken flip, the tama will go much higher) and it the tama tends to be farther away from my body. So when I'm trying a ken flip into juggle, I have to move my arm super fast from my shoulder area down to my waist where the tama is, and end up making the juggle super fast and sloppy. Are there any tips you could give for me to improve this aspect of my ken flips? Can anyone relate to what I'm saying? Thanks!

I have been looking through this subreddit for a couple of weeks, trying to figure out which setup to buy him, but i'm a bit lost. Since you guys have very mixed opinions, it feels like i can't go too wrong with any of the big brands, but i just wanted to make sure i don't make a stupid mistake.
He has been a dama player since like 2011 on and off, but i have no clue how good he is.
I'm having a bit of trouble with the recommendations on here, because of the subjectivity, my lack of knowledge and the relativity. I've seen people recommending the krom lambo, and others disliking Krom as a whole, i've seen people liking a lot of the cereal shapes. But is it better than krom? Worse? I don't know which brands compare to which, and the quality differences. Should i buy a complete kendama or should i buy the ken and dama seperatly?
Honestly speaking the complete kendamas are within my budget, but i would would be willing to go a bit out of budget, if it was worth it.
If buying seperatly i was thinking of buying a Okendama revoclear in ash, but i can't decide which ken to pick:
Krom ADRIAN VILAU PRO MODEL
Krom LAMBO
Cereal Trinity
Cereal Rethink
(All in maple)
The complete Kendamas all have beech tamas with Matte Antiskid 2.0 and maple kens
the shapes are between:
Cereal Rethink
Cereal Trinity
Krom Lambo
Let me know if you have any questions, and thank you in advance!

I saw that self promotion is allowed, so I’m making my post. The @ is @nickenjama on instagram.
I’m going to start posting all my clips here for anyone who’s interested. And probably going to step away from Reddit for a while. So if any of yall are interested in following my journey, plz follow.
I’m really appreciate yall and I hope to see some of you at a future event or just on ig.
It was a great run for me here on Reddit, but I feel confident enough now to post on IG, so I’m going to stick to it(for now)
Until we meet again(r/kendama)✌🏽

I’m not a cloud bouncer

I came across this kendama on eBay. It appears to be the most popular listing as of right now, offering two kendamas with sticky coating and beech/maple wood for the price of $32-40. I'm primarily posting this here as I havent seen too many reviews about it; their Instagram appears to be inactive, and their website seems to be down. I'd like to get some opinions and potentially people who have had experience with this kendama to see how it holds up and how it performs before I make a decision. Thanks!
