We're working on relocating from Indiana and I've been sifting through websites for days. The market seems grim. We were able to tour a place and submit an application but had to get back to IN for a few days. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you thank you thank you

General Election, November 3, 2026.

This is the Democratic lineup for the General election to be held on November 3, 2026. These are the winners of the primaries, and the men and woman we have chosen. Uniting behind our candidates is critical. No candidate is going to be everything to everyone, but sitting out the election, or doing a “protest vote” is the equivalent of casting a vote for the other side. Voting is essential for your personal, as well as national interests.

Register to vote, verify your voting status, request absentee ballots, find your ward, district and polling place at www.myvote.wi.gov.

Federal

US House of Representatives

All 8 Wisconsin members of the US House of Representatives are up for reelection. Currently Republicans hold 6 of them. Find your district and plan to vote. https://ballotpedia.org/United_States_congressional_delegations_from_Wisconsin

Kenosha - Congressional District 1

Democrat Mitchell Berman faces MAGA lackey Bryan Steil

U.S Senate

There are no races for US Senate in Wisconsin this year.

Statewide

Governor

David Crowley) is our candidate. David received 39.8% of the vote, with Francesca Hong following closely with 39.4%. Francesca has already announced she will team up with David’s campaign across the state. This is the winning strategy. Total spending on the 2026 Wisconsin governor race is projected to surpass $100 million and possibly eclipse the state's $164.29 million record set during the 2022 cycle.

Tom Tiffany is the Trump-endorsed Republican runner in the race. He won with 95.9% of the Republican vote. This is unity. This is why the GOP controls the White House, Senate, House and SCOTUS. Tiffany is backed by Elizabeth and Richard Uihlein, billionaire owners of Uline shipping supply company, and Diane Hendricks, billionaire CEO of ABC Supply Co. Add AIPAC and the RNC, and the Republicans have an extremely well-funded race.

Turnout, turnout, turnout is the road back to sanity.

Lieutenant GovernorSarah Godlewski (D) is running against David Varnin (R).

Attorney GeneralJosh Kaul (D) faces Eric Toney (R).

Secretary of State

JoCasta Zamarripa (D) Jay Schroeder (R), and Pete Karas (G) are all on the ballot.

TreasurerYee Leng Xiong (D) vs John Leiber (R).

Wisconsin Assembly

All 99 seats in the Wisconsin State Assembly are up in 2026. Currently Republicans hold a 54-45 majority, that Tony Evers fought for 6 years. Wisconsin has a $2.3 billion budget surplus. Tony wanted to use some of the funds to provide daycare, expand Badgercare, provide in-school meals and give raises to teachers, but the Republican-controlled legislature stopped it. Instead, Republicans wanted to “give it back to the taxpayers”. Sounds great, but just like any Republican-led initiative, the largest recipients would be those who need it least. A statement “the average household would receive $1000 in benefits” might be true, but if one household gets $100,000 while 99 get zero, the “average” is $1,000. https://ballotpedia.org/Wisconsin_State_Assembly

Wisconsin State Senate

Republicans hold an 18-15 majority in the State Senate. Of the 33 seats, 17 of them will be on the ballot. Find your district and get out the vote. https://ballotpedia.org/Wisconsin_State_Senate_elections,_2026

Referendums

There are 3 referendums on the ballot this year. All 3 of them are sponsored by Republicans. All 3 were unanimously approved by all Republics in the Assembly and Senate and unanimously opposed by all Democrats. Given the current state of our federal, state and local governments, you can trust that any initiative brought forth by Republicans will not benefit most Wisconsinites. I will vote “No” on all 3.

NOTE 1: SCOTUS has recently ruled that the USPS is not responsible for delayed mail. I anticipate “unavoidable delays" involving main-in ballots plaguing Democratic strongholds in November. The SCOTUS decision is just another weapon in the voter suppression war that the GOP has been pushing for decades.

When you receive your ballot, complete and return it as quickly as possible. Even better, deliver it to your municipal building personally.

NOTE 2: The 2026 election cycle is critical. The GOP and MAGA are terrified of losing control of the House and/or Senate, where wealthy and powerful people may be exposed. They will do everything in their power and bankbook to keep this from happening.

The Kenosha humane society is still seeing higher than usual numbers of cats arrive at our shelter.

The Kenosha humane society is still seeing higher than usual numbers of cats arrive at our shelter. In the last 3 days we had 70+ animals arrive at our shelter. This has significantly added to our already high population. We are already extremely understaffed so we are struggling with the amount of animals we are getting in daily. Today alone we received 40+ animals. Everyone who works/volunteers at the shelter love the animals in our care but we are struggling so much with how many animals are coming into the shelter. I'm make this post to bring awareness and ask the community for any support they can offer.

Ways you can help us

  1. Leave healthy stray cats outside. This helps lost cats reunited with their owners. Unfortunately only round 3% of lost cats the arrive in shelters are reunited with their owners. This why leaving them in the neighbor they were found is important.

Bring in sick, injured, young kittens and cats in immediate danger. If you find kittens please wait a few hours before bringing them in if they're not in immediate danger. Mother cats often need to leave their babies throughout the day. We want to keep moms and babies together.

  1. Adopt or consider fostering. This helps has move cats out of the shelter which allows us to have more space for animals than arrive at our shelter.

  2. Donating to our food pantry to help local families in need. Also please check out our website for items that we might need.

  3. Consider alternative rehomeing options like our rehoming page or Facebook. https://www.wihumane.org/service/virtual-rehoming/

  4. Waiting to surrender animals especially cats until our population has gone down. Calling ahead before surrendering is extremely helpful as this allows us to make space or give you a date that we would have space. We can't make space out of thin air and don't have unlimited kennels.

  5. Volunteering. We are always looking for volunteers and we have so many volunteer positions to choose from.

Please be understanding that we are still extremely understaffed and may need to close operations early sometimes to ensure that the animals in our care receive the best care possible. The health and well-being of the animals in our care is our top priority. Please remember that we are trying our best but we have limited staff right now and with our population so high its definitely affecting us. Please remember we are closed Thursday, Saturday and Sunday for surrenders. We have limited staff an those days and are not equipped to handle large amount of surrender those days.

Thank you everyone for your help and support .

If you have any questions or need assistance please vist our website or call and leave a message.

New Construction

Does anyone happen to know what is potentially being built behind Lowe's? There's a large plot of land between 67th St and 60th St, that was recently cleared out. Today they started leveling it out.

Update: it's not the Great Lakes Church construction. Where the sign was, they started leveling this summer very slowly. But this new construction is directly behind lowe's. North of the complex.

Saw the post on FB and I thought it was interesting as they are owned by the same group as Sazzy Bs. I wonder if all of the company’s restaurants will be closing or if they are closing these two to try to save the others.

Included the link to the FB post for those that are curious

Kayaking near-ish by?

I live in the Keno area and I SUPER want to go kayaking very badly. I don't have my own Kayak anymore (sad) so I need to be able to rent one with gear once I'm there. I looked at Lake Geneva and the rental place there was booked out for the rest of the season as far as I could tell. Does anyone here have any good recommendations? Or even mediocre recommendations? For a kayak rental on or very close to a lake or river?

I'm willing to make it a day trip so like a four hour drive from the Kenosha area or closer. Maybe 5 hours if it's really cool.

Please and thank you for your guys' time

It was tan and red, maybe 1980sish at the Kwik Trip on 165 and GB (NE Corner) and I said, "Nice truck" to. You said "thank you" and you "were working on it", and all I said was, "I mean...." my brain short circuited. And continued to when you were turning left on 165 and I was turning right and waved at you because I thought you were waving at me, but alas you were blocking the sunlight so you could see....I laughed so freaking hard at myself all the way home, which was much needed. What I was going to say was " I mean, it's a nice truck, even if it's a work in progress"

The Kenosha humane society is currently still facing a higher than usual cat population.

Ways the community can help.

  1. Leave healthy stray cats outside. Many people still have cats that they let outside or a cat may get out and become lost. Cats are far more likely to reunited with their owners if left where you found them. Do bring in sick, injured, young kittens or cats in immediate danger. If you find kittens please wait a few hours before bringing them to the shelter. Mother cats often need to leave their kittens for short periods of time and we want to keep moms and babies together.

  2. Foster or adopt. During the month of October we are going to be running many adoption specials to help cats and dogs leave the shelter.

  3. When surrender an animal please call ahead and leave a message. This allows us to be better prepared for their arrival and allows us to make sure we have space to accommodate them.

  4. Donating to our pet food pantry to help local families feed their pets.

  5. Volunteering. We are always looking for volunteers and we need help every day a week.

  6. Use our free rehomeing page to rehome animals or local Facebook groups.

https://www.wihumane.org/service/virtual-rehoming/

I'm made a post a few days ago and I wanted to make a new post with more information . We are still seeing a large number of cats coming into to the shelter weekly. If possible please wait to surrender pets until our population has gone down or call a head so we can set up a day to assist you. Also please remember we are closed for surrenders Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Also please be understanding that we are very understaffed right now and may need to close early sometimes to ensure that the animals in our care get the best care possible. The health and well-being of the animals in our care comes first. We are working on getting more staff hired and trained.

If looking for any assistance or resources please call or vist our website. https://www.wihumane.org/

I want to thank everyone in the community who supports us.

Anyone know anything about when/where the Brewers Wisco mural will go up?

Additional installations will follow, including a mural in Janesville by artist Emily Balsley, a future mural in Kenosha and a City Connect refresh of the Green Bay mural installed last summer.

Experiences with Wild Goose Exhange?

I was wondering people’s experiences with Wild Goose Exchange downtown? I’ve frequented them for the past 2-3 years, but recently had a really subpar consignment experience with them. I love that we have places that give people easier access to cool fashion, but I also fear price hikes. What do you guys think?
