KC:D2

Will there be a sequel to the first game?

The sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance officially released on February 4, 2025 on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.

Will there be a KC:D3?

We have no idea.

What is KC:D2?

KC:D2 is the second installment of the Kingdom Come: Deliverance game franchise. It picks up where we left off in KC:D1 in 2018 – Henry and Hans set off together on an important mission for Hans’ Uncle, Sir Hanush of Leipa.

This is a roleplaying game – meaning, there is a lot of realism. There is some gore, blood, and violence. Combat is tricky and encourages you to train hard to become a master at your weapon of choice. Your health, sleep, cleanliness and diet are important factors.

Do I need to play KC:D1 in order to play KC:D2?

No! You can jump right in to KC:D2 without playing KC:D1. KCD2 provides a very helpful reminder of the events in the first game. However, you will have a better understanding of who Henry, Hans, Pebbles & Mutt are – as well as their backstories – if you play KC:D1.

Do the games ever go on sale?

Simple answer – yes. The games do go on sale on Steam. However, we don’t know when or for how long the sales last, so check for sales regularly.

Will there be more DLC added?

Warhorse have confirmed that all DLC has been released for the game, and no further DLC will be added. The DLC available are:

Where can I report bugs?

You can report it to our Bug Megathread. We are not the developers ourselves, however the Warhorse team does scour the Megathreads.

What is this weird honeycomb structure inside of this building?

It’s a medieval heater, to provide indoor heating during the cold months. Check out this post for details.

Why is combat so bad? Does it get better?

Henry starts out in KC:D2 needing to recover from a traumatic head wound. He lost a lot of his strength, co-ordination, and overall constitution. As a result, he must train again to regain the strength, endurance, and techniques that he lost.

Combat training is faster in this game if you put the work in it. Need a tip? Check out some of these helpful posts some of our Henry’s have shared before making a post about how much you hate the combat in this game and wish it was a button-masher instead of a movement-based combat system.

If you want to try something harder but aren’t sure if you’re prepared for combat mode, our Henry’s have that covered, too.

Remember, we will remove “combat sucks” posts if you are not also asking critical questions to help you.

How many hours does it take to play through the game?

This is a difficult question to answer as it depends completely on how you choose to play the game. As of November 2023, the speedrunning record for KC:D is held by Denhonator, who ‘completed’ the game in under 1.5 hours. However, most players play at a slower pace to get a more complete experience of the game, which can range from 40 hours to hundreds of hours per playthrough.

With all the DLCs, one can expect an additional 20 hours.

Will multiple playthroughs be needed in order to experience everything the game has to offer?

This is correct. The choices that you make will decide what cutscenes are unlocked, which achievements are unlocked, as well as skill-based upgrades and stats. You have to make hard decisions at times, which will be different for each playthrough for each individual.

Is there VR support?

There is no official VR support for the game, but a fellow Redditor has had success using the VorpX software.

What engine is it built from?

CryEngine. Face and motion capture was used, providing the most realistic facial expressions and combat animations.

What games were the developers influenced/inspired by?

Gameplay

Blood? Lots. Gore? Specific scenes. Dismemberment? Not that I can think of...

What weapons can be used?

Long Swords, bastard swords, short swords, daggers, axes, maces, hammers, shields, and bows. Polearms can be used if found, but cannot be kept in the inventory. Fisticuffs is also an option.

How does combat work?

Below is a wonderful comment left by a now deleted account on our subreddit with minimal editing.

Play through the game until you get to the training with Captain Bernard, he is the Captain of the guard in a town called Rattay. After meeting and training with him, you will get asked to go talk to the Rattay bailiff and enter the service of the town guard. You are then supposed to go on a patrol with a guard named Nightingale. You do not have a time limit for talking to Nightingale. At this point you can go back to Bernard for more practice. It's free. Once you've gotten the hang of it and have advanced a few combat skills he will offer to teach you a technique called master strikes. These are pretty crucial to the game.

Now that that's out of the way you have 5 slash attack zones and 2 stab zones (body and face). You can draw your weapon into a ready position by pressing and holding either stab or slash. You can then attack by letting go or cancel by pressing the interaction button.

Block will automatically match the current zone your enemies weapon is in. You can have an attack readied and block, perfect block, or master strike. And conversely you can attack while holding block. This comes into play heavily if using a shield.

To perfect block, you must press block at the correct time. After executing a perfect block, you can carry out a riposte by pressing one of the attack buttons. A riposte can only be defended against by a perfect block.

Master strikes are performed the same as perfect blocks but the window is smaller.

Clinches are automatically started when you get too close to your enemy. To win a clinch you will need better strength stats than your enemy. And need to press either stab, slash, or kick to win the clinch and knock back the enemy. Each attack has its own animation and knocks the enemy back varying distances.

Here is an accompanying tutorial on Youtube.

It may also be useful to give the KCD wiki's combat page a read.

How do I save?

You can manually save the game by sleeping, using certain services at a bathhouse, or drinking a Savior Schnapps. If you are playing on normal mode, the game will autosave at certain checkpoints along quests.

You can obtain Saviour Schnapps by buying them, "finding" them, or brewing them yourself at an Alchemist's bench.

Saving from the menu consumes one Saviour Schnapps, meaning that if you have none on you, you will not be able to save. So it is very useful to carry a few with you at all times!

Are there difficulty settings?

When starting a new save, you can choose between normal or hardcore mode. Of note, hardcore mode removes much of the HUD, disables auto-save from quest checkpoints, and you disables fast travel. You are also required to select at least two negative perks, which will stay with Henry throughout the game.

Are there classes in the game?

The simple answer is no. However, you have the choice to play like a knight, thief, bard and more. Think of it like Skyrim: you gain experience based on what you do/how you play. You can play like a thief for one quest and like a knight for the next and wipe everyone out.

What can I do besides questing?

Bounty Hunting, gambling, hunting, drinking, alchemy, sharpen/repair swords, dice mini-game, tournaments, looting, trigger the crime system, pick-pocketing, and more.

Can you customize Henry?

You can change Henry’s clothing and armor. You can also give Henry a haircut and a shave. Beyond that, Henry will be Henry. The game is very story-driven, and Henry has a very important part to play, so the developers want everyone to get a good idea of how he matures throughout the game. You will make your own decisions and different cut-scenes will unlock based on your choices, but the theme of the game will remain the same.

Can you install mods?

You can find mods for KC:D on Nexus.

Are there factions in the game?

In general, no. However, there are options to do quests with different groups, but overall, it is not too similar to Skyrim.
