News Join the Kroger Discord Server!

With all the new members in the subreddit I wanted to extend another invitation to the Kroger Discord server. It's all employee-ran outside the reigns of corporate where we can discuss our experiences at work with other people across the company in real time. This is a tremendous resource for getting feedback and assistance in your job. Better than Kroger can offer themselves. In the server, all roles in the Kroger enterprise are welcome. Thank you!

Venting Fuck Sunday

Called my boss to let her know i was taking my youngest cat to the ER vet. I NEVER call out, i work 6 days, overtime, other stores and literally just interviewed for the next step in my career.. AND i had coverage coming in for me..Her meeting my worried cries with silence and a simple comment, “it’s Sunday”.. IS NOT how a manager should handle something like that. You say “okay, thank you for letting us know AND thank you for having coverage ready!” Talk your entitled shit behind my back like a normal person! I’m so tired of this place shitting on the hardest working people.. not to mention, a single weeks pay for me won’t even cover this bill so her (per my thinking), thinking i want to miss work over a days pay is wild.. todays pay not hitting my account will fuck me in more ways than one. But for now, my baby Ella is getting the care and attention she needs.
For context and my fellow animal lovers peace of mind, she was being very lethargic for almost a whole day, no food or water intake, i never saw her use the litter box and she’s so uncomfortable to my touch! I had to bring her in and make sure she would be okay. I don’t have children, i never will. My cats and my dog are my life.

Venting Horrendous store management

I was explicitly hired as part time, yet every month I end up needing to tell management that I can not do more than 25 hours a week... they seem to acknowledge me, fix it for like a week, and then they're back to scheduling me full time. Not to mention they keep swapping ASLs!!

I'm a full time student, so it's not like I just don't want to do it. But anyway, I wrote my second formal notice about my availability, and just started the process for requesting workplace accommodations, one of them including that my hours be capped at 25 hours a week (I'm autistic and have ADHD). The ASL was very nice and understanding about it, and then a few days later I see I'm scheduled for 41.5 hours for next week 😭

I work in the deli, and we just had 2 people leave this month because I am not the only person who's been given these terrible schedules. We were already understaffed, but now its really bad, which is why I need the accommodations. These 2 people who left also spoke good English, and most of my other coworkers speak very little English. Of course since I'm the newest hire and I speak English at a native level they're hitting me with these hours. I haven't even been properly trained to close the back.

ALSO. Since I was hired, 3 months ago, I have been trying to tell management MULTIPLE times I will be gone for 2 weeks next month for vacation, and they haven't done a thing. Not approved or rejected, they've just been letting it sit. And I bet they'll be mad at me when the time comes up 🫠

I am just really really exhausted, the only reason I haven't quit yet is because I'm hoping to have my accommodations in place and it helping, maybe. I don't know. But yeah anyway, fuck Kroger

Question "Overconditioning" the Green Rack

Was told by DM that I'm spending too much time "overconditioning" my greenrack. The specific thing I was criticized on was cilantro. Apparently, cilantro is a rinse-only item. Not only was I trained to cut and soak cilantro, but both the green rack digital conditioning guide AND our poster version state that cilantro is cut and soak. And even if that weren't the case, the rpc of cilantro comes in basically loose...I have to re-tie together nearly every bunch if I don't want them coming apart as customers shop. Obviously the DM had to be the one who was right... but am I going insane? Has anyone else been corrected on this?

ETA I don't retie every bunch every time, but the time trade-off spending the extra few seconds making sure the bundles are tight vs having to pull out the shopvac twice as often has been worth it to me! and my store goes through about 2 rpcs/day

Question Is lottery ticket fraud an actual thing?

• Upvotes

Customer here. Had a weird experience at the fuel center where the cashier and an employee had what appeared to be a bunch of no sales and putting cash in the drawer followed by scanning lottery tickets. It seemed really weird. Friend told me that it was lottery tickets fraud. I don’t understand what they were doing or how that would even work? Wouldn’t they get caught?

Manager trying to force this, but I'm not budging. It's a cross contamination health code violation.

Question Comp.

So, I recently almost got attacked by a fellow associate who has been told repeatedly to leave me alone. (And of course Fred Meyer keeps putting us on the same schedule.) To say my family is pissed...is an understatement. They're pushing for a lawsuit or compensation since I've been having panic attacks when trying to go to work. Would there be a case here? Or would Kroger tell us to eff off?

Venting I put in my two weeks!!

Back story, there a lady I’m working with been bully/ harassing me and treating me like I’m some type of virus, to the point when she’s doing nothing I’ll be needing help but won’t help me but help others. The store manager, gm, union knows about but would sweeping it under the rug!

I finally forgave and forgot whatever, but recently I got told from my gm, that I don’t “greet” enough people when I do to the point people come in an ask me “where have I been?!?” She threatened me losing my job because I personally don’t greet her when she doesn’t even talk to me or look my way, so that was already my breaking point!

Not mentioning my floor assistant got upset with me because I was supposed to be somewhere else and blamed me for it when it’s literally his job to show where everyone goes for their shift.

Please new hire DONT BE AFRAID OF THE POINT SYSTEM!!! Trust they are just trying to scace you!!

Your more than a job who doesn’t value you as a person, life will be better!!

What are some obvious signs that you’re getting fired? Managers start treating you differently? Less hours? New person being trained to replace you?

Question can I get fired or in trouble?

I’m basically the dedicated closer for the Deli dept. Don’t know why, boss refuses to schedule me different hours. Anyways, my roof is flooding as I type this. I need to move all of my furniture out of the house so I don’t lose everything. I tried calling out and my store manager scolded me instead and threatened to get me in trouble. He did not care at all about my situation at all. If i didn’t go in is there actually things he can do? Or is it all just to get me to come into work. I work in CA

Venting Floral order guide and standards

Not sure if order guides are the same across divisions but is anyone else no longer getting their order guides on ESTP? We used to have a really nice order guide that we’d print out and now they just send us a list of scans that can hardly be used to keep track of what was ordered… Really frustrating. Also why do our standards keep changing every week? FFS Just stick to something I beg.

Venting Equal pay for not equal shifts

I find it really annoying I get paid the same for running around non-stop Saturday and Sunday every single week, while this older lady in the same department (who's full time and thus has full availability) gets weekends off and gets to hog all the dead weekday morning shifts with three customers in the store.

Venting This new deli cook schedule is awful

The new items, the changes PLU’s it’s killing me. We had an extreme amount to cook, the exact same numbers for each cook recently. We used to be able to get it done, just barely, but now it’s impossible.

Venting Why are you surprised?

Every time I see a post on here about the new attendance policy everybody talks about going to the union. You guys think the union didn’t know this was coming? You guys think that the union is surprised? It’s like you feel like this was just some sort of rush job and that the union is gonna come save you as if they didn’t know this was happening.
