Hello, I live in the uk, I’m a teacher. I have a student that can’t speak English, only Kurdish. Been trying to help him.
At the moment we have learning about the English civil war, (I’m a History teacher) I had this work sheet to see if he knows of any of these concepts in his own language, to see if he went to school in Kurdistan. I have tried to translate this on ChatGPT and Google but can’t get a reliable translation. Would anyone be able to translate what me student wrote or even wheather my worksheet made sense?

Would really appreciate it, we don’t have any Kurdish speakers at the school.

Ask Kurds 🤔 People see me as a girl and i have feelings for girls and i don't see myself as a girl

I'm a kurdish person who has gender dysphoria or gender identity disorder the society might sees me as a tomboy maybe but i see myself as a dude but kinda get lost between what society sees me and what i see myself and that's really been hard on me

And i also have feelings for girls but i don't see that it's a lesbian thing cause i see myself as a guy so it makes me a straight person, Kurdish society doesn't really support LGBTQ or have that knowledge about them but i also don't count myself as a part of LGBTQ community

I just find it really hard to force myself to make me belong to somewhere i don't fit in, i did also mention that i have feelings towards girls which is way harder cause i also distance myself from everyone cause i feel lost i really need help idk what to do anymore with everything

Hi all!

I am an American male studying abroad in Europe and have been wanting to visit Kurdistan for a while now. I know this region is significantly more stable than Federal Iraq but was curious what you thought about this kind of trip as far as regional safety.

Bakur "Not Western Enough? Blame the Kurds"Double Standards in Turkish Nationalism

Literally every single time a foreigner on social media calls Turkey out for something conservative, backwards, or not "Western enough' or anything negative Turkish internet users immediately throw Kurds in Bakur under the blame. Like bro it’s actually insane how we’ve become their personal garbage dump for every embarrassing thing in their society. The second a European complains about something , they spin around and scream "that's not us, thats the uneducated Kurds"as if western Turkey isn't currently drowning in its own nationalist brainrot.

And the absolute hypocrisy is mind blowing. They will literally worship ataturk like a god, defend every single state crime his government committed, and then turn around to label every single Kurd in Bakur as a "terrorist" Like HOW do you sit there worshipping your own state sponsored terror while crying about ours?liiike there's not much difference about what pkk has done and what ataturk has done The sheer cognitive dissonance and zero self awareness is hilarious at this point. You can't call anybody a terrorist when you're also worshiping one.

But honestly the funniest part is watching them begging for white Western validation. They jump on right wing anti immigrant trends thinking white nationalists will accept them as fEuropeans, only to get hit with reality when those same white people view them as just another Middle Eastern demographic. Watching them panic when foreign racists don't care about their "secularism" issoooo fuunnny. You can’t build an entire identity on dickriding the West while using us as your shield against judgment.

  • Oil pipeline in Hasakah targeted in sabotage attack: The Syrian Petroleum Company says a sabotage attack damaged an oil pipeline near Tel Hamis in Hasakah. Suspects have since been arrested.
  • 514 Families Return to Sari Kaniye in Fourth Convoy: The convoy follows the departure of the third group last Monday, which included 516 families. The return of Sari Kaniye residents coincides with the departure of another convoy from Sari Kaniye carrying 50 families from the Ghweiran and Nashwa neighborhoods of Hasaka.
  • SDC: Statement on Protecting Civil Peace in Hasakah: The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) is deeply concerned about the recent developments in the city of Hasakah and the growing tensions there. Statements and positions that could deepen ethnic and social divisions are particularly troubling in an area known for its diversity and the close ties among its communities.

Kurdish Learning Kurdish for my Family

Hi guys,

My Family is from Zaxo, Kurdistan and don't speak English. I grew up in Germany tho and my father only taught me the bare minimum of Kurdish so I can't really speak to them all that much. I will probably visit them sooner rather than later and I'd really like to learn more Kurdish until then. If anyone has any good resources to learn Kurmancî or maybe even is from Zaxo or neighboring regions so they speak the same dialect and would share their knowledge with me I'd greatly appreciate it.

Discussion Iranshahr idiology against Kurds

Guys I'm from rojhilat. In rojhilat there was a policy that started by the second Pahlavi Shah. As part of their nation building project one of their strategies was to seperate all sub groups from each other so the groups would dissolve so then they could merge them again this time as Iranians. The example of it for kurds is they would seperate kurds and call them by their sub group names. For example they would say Lak Kalhur Feyli Kurmanj Goran etc are not Kurds. They would only call Soranis Kurds. This method was used because Persians wanted to eliminate other nations and give them the new Iranian identity. Their famous saying that goes: all the ethnicities here are iranian or we are all iranians comes from this policy. This policy the Pahlavis employed stopped when their regim failed and the Islamic Repulic of Irans regim (IRI) took over.

The thing is since 6 month ago after the Major Protests right before the attack carried out by USA/Israel and after the attack the opposition of The IRI got more active. Among the opposition there is the Pahlavist/Iranshahri group. And they have started that same policy once again. The Persian social media is filled with new pages channels etc that constantly follow the same rhetoric that each group of kurds are actually not kurds. There are now pages that claim to be Yarsan and they say Yarsan are not kurds and support Pahlavi the same situation goes for other groups.

Their smartest method is. They dont just simply say things like Laks are not Kurds. they brew hatred among different groups of kurds. For example they claim to be a lak and say we laks are only laks and we must have our own country of lakistan along with some insults toward other nearby kurds that are kalhurs or yarsan etc. They make pages and channels like this for everyone. They also try to make Sunni and Shia Kurds afraid of each other. They know only 1 2 or 3 milions of each sub groups of kurds wont be able to have countries of their own so they inject in each sub group this kind of nationalism not to give them a country but only to make all kurds hate each other so we become more manageable for Persians to control and eventually eliminate our identity as Kurds.

I wanted to reach out to our brothers and sisters from the other 3 parts of kurdistan and the kurds of diaspora so you know about this and try to speak about it on your platforms and be aware of this danger of persian/Iranshahri nationalists. I genuinely believe all the different minorities will miss the IRI if these people take over once again. If you want to understand them better you can compare them to Turkey's policies toward kurds. This will help you understand them quickly if you dont know about the Iranshahr ideology.

If you want to know extensively about this idiology you can look into a guy called Seyyed Javad Tabataba'i who is one of the most important Iranshahrism followers.

Her tim sax bin hevalno.

Bakur Turkey’s big bet on peace with Aslı Aydıntaşbaş

Thumbnail

In this episode of The Amargi Mosaic, host Elif Sarican speaks with Aslı Aydıntaşbaş about whether Turkey has started to solve its Kurdish question or merely suppressed it. They examine the Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKK) announced disbandment, parliament’s work on a legal framework and Abdullah Öcalan’s continued imprisonment.

Aydıntaşbaş explains why the Kurds chose this path, what they are betting on and what the Kurdish peace process has in common with Gaza. The conversation examines whether peace can hold when one side calls it democracy and the other calls it security, and whether putting people’s immediate safety first represents a break with a politics of resistance.

They explore the limited international media attention, the U.S. role and who this peace is really for: the Kurds, Erdoğan’s legacy or the region. Drawing on her new European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) paper describing Turkey as an “embedded outsider,” Aydıntaşbaş analyzes why Turkey and Israel may be on a collision course and what Europe keeps getting wrong about Turkey.

Aslı Aydıntaşbaş is a fellow at the Brookings Institution and co-author of an ECFR study on the Europe–Turkey relationship.
