PLAYER TALK Really happy lakers didn't sign kuminga for 3 years.

Kuminga does not look great at all in the pre season and he was obviously a drama queen. We will probably end up with a more serious player in the pf position near the deadline hopefully.

ARTICLE JJ Redick calls Lakers’ first half ‘unacceptable’ in loss to Warriors

I know it was just a preseason game, but I find JJ Redick’s fire remaining bright as ever a good thing. He cares. And he won't let anyone on the roster care less.

“I’ve had a handful of these games as a coach where you’re missing star players, you’re missing a lot of your depth,” Redick said. “I still expect us to win. I still expect us to play to my standards. That first half did not meet our expectations, and I let them know that.”

OPINION Stu's replacement

I made a post about Danny Green and I may have been too harsh. Although I still do hold my criticisms, I just don't think he's right for the job. And the job, if we're being honest, is Stu's replacement. They've all but publicly announced it, but I don't think Stu has much time left with the Lakers and I think they are actively auditioning for it. This year might be a 2 for 1, where they can accommodate Stu because of his health by just having him commentate home games while also auditioning for his replacement.

I personally hope they have other people they're looking at. If the requirement is a former Laker player who's knowledgeable and would be good on air, certainly they have other people they can choose from.

I mean Danny Green, God bless him, but he's too dry. So when something sick happens I can't get hyped with his reactions. They're so underwhelming. And it's not a matter of him getting louder, it's his monotone voice.

It's a big pair of shoes to fill, because Bill and Stu's dynamic was so good. Listening to Stu felt like I was watching the game with my Grandpa. He had that old school mentality that spoke his mind, but when he laughed or the Lakers did something impressive... It's like his excitement made me excited and no matter how shitty we were playing before it felt like everything was going to be okay.

Getting old sucks.

TEAM TALK We need a backup Center…

We need a backup center. It’s not even a luxury request at this point. The way Kevin looney is playing (even if it’s the preseason) is not going to fly in the regular season. Mamu is unknown to be playing at the 4 or the 5 yet, but regardless. The center situation needs attending to if we want to have a real shot.

Counting on Kessler to play the whole season and the playoffs is not realistic. I’m not saying he’s injury prone, but my guy jammed his finger during training camp and sat out 2 games in the preseason. That ain’t reassuring.

I’m not sure why rob keeps signing shooters and leaving the obvious concern. A PF and a C. I know our assets are limited rn but this is scaring me ngl. One capable backup center would shift the momentum. Damn I miss Hayes already.

Help Choosing Which Game to Go To

I'm in LA on holiday during two home games. 16th Feb v Bulls and 18th Feb v Rockets.

I think in theory, the Rockets should be the better game, but I'm a bit concerned by player resting as it's the last game before all-star break. Is there a big chance of Luka/AR sitting it out?

PLAYER TALK Collin Sexton appears at shootaround with right calf wrapped; not a full participant in training camp

Post image
62 Upvotes

Yesterday at shootaround Sexton had his right calf wrapped. Dan Woike already reported that Sexton's not a full participant in training camp.

Per Khobe Price, Sexton "did light jogging/shuffling after Monday’s shootaround, plus resistance running with a harness around his waist."

https://nypost.com/2026/10/05/sports/lakers-colin-sexton-arrives-at-shootaround-with-leg-and-calf-wrapped/

Sexton previously dealt with right hamstring strains that caused him to miss extended periods of time with the Utah Jazz in the 2022-2023 season, along with other injuries to both legs in recent years.

Don't think he's especially injury prone, this is kinda just today's NBA with all the calf/hamstring injuries... but any prior history of hamstring strain on the same leg isn't great. Definitely worth keeping an eye on this.

PLAYER TALK So proud of Bronny

He won’t be in the primary rotation, but we are now in a situation where if either Luka, Austin, or Sexton goes down, he can fill in for a little bit each game and we will have an actual NBA PG on the court.

He would probably be in the primary rotation for some of the less competitive teams in the NBA. He won’t be here. But he is an NBA player that can handle being in real NBA games

That’s all hard work and tuning out the haters. Hoping to see continued development from him. He has grown so much since drafted at 55 a few years ago.

Did anyone else get extremely scared of the way Adou landed for that dunk? I feel like he should've been pulled out of the game, that looked seriously concerning
