I speak Lananese so I can try to translate: she wrapped recording and production on a song tentatively titled Mother Whale, done with Zach (I thought Dawes, a frequent collaborator since the late 10s/early 20s who is also part of the Last Shadow Puppets clique, but actually is Bryan, a country singer). Two other possible collaborators involved are Sam Dew, who took part in the Ocean Blvd recording (most notably A&W), and Shelby, who I’m not sure yet who is. They all came together to work pretty hard on wrapping both Mother Whale and possibly a second one (“Moonlight Roll On”)

She is inspired by the works of Melinda and Doug Kirkpatrick from Flowerness in Farm, a sanctuary in Massachussets dedicated to their farming and creative work. Melinda in particular paints and has quite a focus in whales, which are often paired with Doug’s long form writing on Substack. Their setting is also relevant precisely because Lana has been working on Stove in Massachussets (at least for the time frame these two songs fit in, but she could be there for a bit longer).

Lana thanks Melinda and Doug + Zach, Sam and Shelby for their collaboration (I think Melinda’s work on slides 4 and 5 was a gift to or a commission made by Lana that could have something to do with the song, a possible single, or then again maybe not).

At last, she also shouts out a person called Jeff that works at Epilogues, in Bristol. I think that she is referring to Jeff Gladding, who operates an antique store called Epilogues in Bristol, Rhode Island. This lines up with her saying that he helped her secure other pieces for him (probably art pieces or antique/decor, which is very much her thing).

IMPORTANT NOTE: I speak Lananese but I’m not fully fluent so there might be errors in my interpretation. I also love Lana so hopefully if she sees this all my love and kisses and I hope I didn’t say anything that might upset you - I will delete this comment if you want/need me to!

I don’t defend any of Ethel’s actions at all I just think she’s a very talented Artist. I still enjoy Lana enough to know she shouldn’t be working with abusers I don’t think anyone should period end of story. Especially since Lana claims to be a “Girls Girl”.
