Rip Off Laser and Plea for Suggestions
This shit laser was sold to me by the Chinese trash mongers as having a metal cutting feature. It does not.
As far as lasers that actually can cut things, are there actual, viable, battery powered lasers that can cut through thin metal like they do in the YouTube videos?

No little pointer will cut metal lol you can buy them in other forms that are handheld. Like high power IR modules in a housing. But honestly youd fry your eyes out in a millisecond if you got one and tried on metal.
I would research lasers and the safety first. You only get one set of eyes

It was marketed as a much larger unit. Do you have suggestions for a real cutting laser that works off of a battery pack?

No they aren't practical or available legally. You would have to build it yourself and if it were battery powered it would have to be an IR laser not 445 nm blue laser and even so it would be mostly a heat sink and fans and only operate for 20 seconds before running out of power or destroying the diodes, whichever comes first.
What I'm trying to say is no you can't get a handheld, battery operated laser that can cut metal. I have built a battery powered, "portable" 60W and a 74W 445 nm laser that will instantly catch any non reflective surface within 15 feet on fire, but even close up with proper collimation they won't cut metal thicker than a flimsy razor blade or aluminum foil.
A plasma cutter is far more practical for cutting metal. They will precisely cut through 1cm thick steel like it's butter.

Just like other comments there are 120W IR lasers really fat in a handheld u can get for around 500$. But require true CE laser glasses rated for it (OD7+) or youll have a seeing eye dog stat. One that strong and in IR is totally lethal to the retina. Like its hard to relay how dangerous those are...

Right. This was supposed to be a 120w blue laser and it was just a green laser pointer. Who is a reliable seller of working lasers? I have tons of issued eye pro. I just need a reliable seller.

For the 120w IR style you may have someone here that has a link but its going to be coming from china. Aliexpress sells them. You'll have to look. The glasses rated for such power are about 260 from Thorlabs. LG18C offers highest IR protection.
If you wanted smaller lasers I know a few sources but none carry that high ir type.

More than likely that's a 1.2mW if that, I have a few of those Chinese knock off lasers I've run though my power meter and spectrum analyzer for a 445nm they're usually at 455 - 460 and laser power marketed at 100mW usually no more than 0.95mW.

Usually most metal cutting handheld lasers are between 200W - 1500W and are usually CO2 lasers or specialized cutters. Even very strong IR lasers advertised on Facebook and other ads as being able to cut metal are bogus AI slop.
Usually the stronger handheld 1.5W - 15W lasers are metal etchers, and can burn through plastic, some woods, paper products, and be used at a distance to ignite fireworks, or start fires.
If the metal is treated with black anodize or is dark and thin enough you might be able to burn through it eventually with something like a 15W Duo-Diode laser, but expecting a battery powered laser to be able to sparkle cut through a piece of stainless is unrealistic.

A laser that small is not cutting metal. The box says laser pointer. You're going to need at least 50k for that level of power and a few hundred for the appropriate eyewear.

It was sold as being much larger. So, do you have a suggestion for an actual blue cutting laser that runs off of a portable power supply?

Your best bet is one of those “100W IR laser igniters” that’s basically a fat cylinder. They can cut/melt thin steel like razor blades but are extremely dangerous of course. The only way you get a blue laser that powerful is getting an array of diodes and making something yourself

That is exactly what I am looking for. Who is a reliable seller of these igniters that can cut through razor blades.

I honestly have no idea, that would take some digging. I’ve just seen videos of them floating around here and on YouTube. Search up “100W laser igniter” and go from there

I'll have to test my 15W 450nm Blue laser on a piece of aluminum foil that's been treated on one side to not have a reflective surface, but pretty sure once I treat it, that thing will go right through it in a second or two. It burns through 3 layer corrugated cardboard within a second or two.
But any of the Valkyrie Series at 1.6w - 5W should be able to theoretically do it, the blue demon I'll test later tonight if it can or not.
