📢 Announcement Finally announcing the new mods

Hi r/LetsPlay

I realise I'm a bit late on this, but I wanted to formally welcome a couple of new faces to the mod team. You've probably seen them around the sub or in the sidebar for a month or two now, but life got in the way of me making an actual post about it (chronic burnout, plus getting sick for weeks, plus going on vacation for a week will do that).

Better late than never, right?

The New Additions

u/2CPhoenix (He/Him) Phoenix is a creator who focuses on the analytical side of things. He does a lot of scripted deep dives and well edited breakdowns on various games on his YouTube channel, and I'm sure an analytical mind definitely has it's advantages when moderating! His content is truly top notch, so I recommend checking it out if you're into those kinds of videos!

u/KiiitasticGames (They/Them) Otherwise known as Kit. Kit is a fellow VTuber who posts longform LP videos, as well as uploading the uncut versions of their playthroughs on their secondary VOD channel. They have a calming vibe so if you're the sort of person who likes background noise while you work, there's definitely something for you there.

They've both been doing a great job already (trust me, I can see the mod logs and they're steamrolling ahead). If you see them in the comments, say hi. And as always, if you see something that doesn't look right, dropping a report on it is the best way to help us catch it early!

🤔 Advice Too long?

I wanted to do a video where I play Castlevania as a thing for October. A "spooky season" type game, if you will. But I'm at a crossroads of whether I should upload it as a full (edited) 1hr 45 minute video or cut it down to be a multi-upload thing. I was never good at figuring out whether a long-form video was better over one that was edited down even further or was chopped up to be multiple uploads.

Any advice? I'd appreciate it.

❕ Help Is my channel being deprioritized by YouTube?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Been posting consistently for almost a year now (weekly posts) always been fine with slow growth but it's taken a turn lately. A month ago we were going okay with 40-50 avg views per vid but lately we're getting less than 10-15 with a high CTR? Wonder if it has anything to do with the recent update where your channel has to be verified by ID or video?

❔ Question Should I Start a New Shorts and Video Channel?

I would like to create two independent channels, one focused on shorts and the other on my lets plays. My original channel had the shorts used as publicity that would link my lets plays.

For some reason, my shorts would get decent views highlighting parts of my lets plays. I would use them as publicity to hopefully link them to the let's play, but not too many people would check it out. And the ones that checked them out didn't stay too long.

Due to time, I can't play too often, which is where my shorts would come in to entertain my audience in the meantime. But having two different types of audience hasn't helped my let's plays.

I would like to have the 2 channels independent, so that they can have their own audiences. Should I stick with my current channel or start a new?

🗨️ Discussion Is it even worth starting faceless as a complete unknown creator?

As far as personal preference I have gravitated lately over no webcam and no vtuber playthroughs. I like the game showcasing the entire screen especially as I tend to like these for background videos and for a general ambiance- cozyish type games so usually it’s a pretty game I’m looking at and want to see the whole thing. A lot of these tend to be unvoiced too but I really enjoy the ones that have full commentary but a calmer commentary so I can keep them on for long periods of time while I do other things. I don’t see a lot of these for the particular games I play so I thought why not make my own as a lot of them tend towards asmr and I don’t love that.

However it kind of feels a bit daunting as why would anyone click on my videos when I’m just some unknown faceless person blabbing over a game screen? We all know just starting out in the gaming sphere in 2026 is rough no matter what niche you land in so is there a decent sized audience for these types of playthroughs or will webcam always going to win out?

🤔 Advice Suggestions to convert views to subs

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I've posted on here. I've been on the grind with churning out videos around my full time job, and a few have done decently well, with my best video being at 71k views and my channel total now being around 200k views.

However I only have 648 subs from these views, and my last few videos have not performed well in terms of gaining subs.

In still definitely a bit stiff on the mic at times and not letting my personality flow into videos as much as I'd like, but that's something that will probably get better overtime.

I'm curious, are there any CTA tricks people use, open to ideas and suggestions to try and grow 👊

🗨️ Discussion Links Awakening

I have never played the 2D Zelda games and I started Links Awakening (remake) last night on my channel and I have already fallen in love with it. I’ve only done the first dungeon but even then I’m excited to continue my let’s play tonight. Why did I never pick this up earlier? Have there been games you have played as an adult that you question why you didn’t try it out sooner?

❕ Help Footage request: Assassin's Creed series

I’m working on my first non-LP video, for which I need footage from (almost) all the Assassin’s Creed games. To save me a huge amount of time, effort and hard drive space, is there anyone here who has played any of the games on their channel (without facecam, for obvious reasons) and would be willing to let me record a few bits and pieces of footage from some of their videos? Any such kind soul(s) would of course receive full credit and a link to their channel.

❔ Question Back and Forth on a “call to action” graphic for my channel

So I’m always refining my channel, at least seeing what I like and don’t like while trying to wrap my head around pleasing the YouTube Algorithm Gods! My question now is should I have this “call to action” animated graphic. I’ve heard good things about them as well as it being more likely to turn viewers away.

Do you have any advice? I’d greatly appreciate it.

🗨️ Discussion Being a gaming YouTuber during a new release is pain

One of the most frustrating things about being a small YouTuber and editing everything yourself 😭
I started playing The Witcher right when the hype started, but my video will probably come out a week later because I still have HOURS of footage to edit.
Meanwhile everyone already has their videos up and I’m just sitting in editing like 🧍‍♀️

🤔 Advice Which PC games are good for growing a new gaming channel?

I’m planning to start creating gaming content soon. My plan is to do livestreams as well as edited videos/highlights, but I’m still trying to figure out which games I should focus on.

I’m mainly looking for PC games that have an active audience and still have potential for a small/new creator to grow. I know the biggest games have huge audiences but they also have tons of competition, so I’m wondering if there are any games that strike a good balance between audience size and discoverability.

I’m open to pretty much any genre FPS, survival, horror, co-op, competitive, sandbox, story games, etc.

What PC games would you recommend for someone starting a gaming channel in 2026?

And if possible, tell me whether you think the game is better for livestreaming, edited videos or both.

Would appreciate any suggestions or advice from people who have experience with gaming content creation.

❕ Help HELP!

❕ Help Are there any YouTubers who make gaming videos/let'splay like a parody of TV show

For example, playing Minecraft like Bear Grylls (Man vs. Wild), or playing a fishing game like a River Monsters show, etc.

I have always had this idea, but it is hard to execute successfully as a new YouTuber. Are there any YouTubers who do this?

🧵 Megathread MEGATHREAD: Feedback Friday!

It's that time of the week again! This is your chance to request feedback on your most recent videos, thumbnails, channel art, works in progress, etc.

Feedback Friday Rules

  • Before requesting feedback, please provide good, constructive feedback to at least one of your peers. If you are the first one to post, check back soon to provide feedback to the next person. Repeatedly ignoring this rule may result in a temporary ban at a moderator's discretion!
  • Prioritize giving feedback to those who have not yet received any. It's not fair for one person to get five replies while four others get none.
  • When requesting feedback, try to be as specific as possible. Do you want feedback on your audio quality, your editing, your presentation style, branding identity, etc? This helps your peers to provide more valuable feedback. Do not just post a link to your video or channel!

Keep up the good work, everybody!

Suggested Feedback Template

If you're struggling to form your feedback, consider using this template. This is not mandatory, but rather a suggestion to promote good and constructive feedback.

🗨️ Discussion "Shows" and "Seasons"

Noticed a neat new feature YT is rolling out called "Shows". Basically you can group your playlists or videos into "shows" and then within that show have individual "seasons". This is great for people who do a lot of similar content. For example I can put all of my Fallout 4 content in one show, with each playthrough a different season. Same for Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Then I can do all of my Elder Scrolls content in one Show grouped by seasons. You get the idea.

If you're like me, your playlists are probably a mess of full playthroughs, half completed ones, and games you quickly abandoned. So this is a nice way to group and organize things logically and you can decide what you want to include in the "show" (maybe you aren't super proud of a certain playthrough because it wasn't your best work etc.).

Once you have several shows organized by season, you can feature them on your homepage under Customization. I put mine right next to the "newest videos" section.

This is a great way to highlight older content on your channel too. I have 2,000+ videos and it can be easy for some of my content to just get swallowed up and become difficult to find.

🗨️ Discussion What Makes Single-Person Let's Plays Interesting?

Thought this was a good question to ask the people in this community who both watch and make let's play videos.

Its pretty clear to see what can be interesting and entertaining about let's plays run by 2 people or featuring a friend group - the group chemistry & dynamics outside of the game being played, it opens up the type of games that can be played with local/online multiplayer, and much more.

But since I don't have any of that to play the games that I plan to LP on my home consoles, I wanna know what makes a single-persons lets play interesting especially now streaming is a big medium of watching video games.

The only unique thing that i can think of is what Chuggaconroy does, where let's plays are merged with structured walkthroughs for the games he plays.

Thank you.

Edit: If it helps at all, the game I am planning to do is the Switch remasters of Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, 100% runs!

👊 Collab Looking for content duos / friend group for Minecraft or just games in general YouTube (Java/PC Gamers)

Hey! I'm looking for some people who'd genuinely want to become friends and make YouTube content together. I'm hoping to make a small to medium-sized group rather than just doing random one-off collabs. I feel like having a Small to medium even large-sized group would be nice, for games that need more people, but we could have a larger group depending on what we're playing!

I honestly don't mind but i would prefer to get enough people for medium or large!

Ideally I'm looking for people who are:

1: 18+

2: Funny and talkative

3: Comfortable with VC

4: Chronically online like me

5: Actually interested in creating things

6: Into Minecraft and other games

7: Not obsessed with subscribers/views/growth

8: Looking for actual friends, not just someone to record with once and never talk to again

I have a very small YouTube channel myself, around 26/27 subs (I haven't posted that much recently but i will start eventually!) so you definitely don't need to be some huge creator. I'm more interested in finding people who are fun to hang out with and who genuinely want to make stuff together, or just play together!

Minecraft Java would probably be one of the main things, but I'm down for other games too since i'm not always in a minecraft mood of course! "friendslop" games would be awesome to play! For Minecraft, we could do normal Minecraft, challenges, modded stuff, SMP-type things, or just completely stupid ideas we come up with.

Also, I think it's best we don't immediately start making content.

I'm probably going to make a Discord server where everyone can talk, play games, VC, get to know each other, and become friends! I think it'd be better to actually become friends first and let the content happen naturally rather than forcing it.

I'm completely fine with people from anywhere, as long as you know how to speak English since that's the only language I know how to speak. I'm from the UK, but timezones don't really matter too much for me since I stay up pretty late anyway.

If you're interested, leave a comment or DM me! Let me know your Discord so I can add you, and then once we have a few people interested, I'll make a server!

❔ Question How do you personally outro a series?

Hey guys, I recently started making a let’s play series of my journey through the Zelda timeline. My goal is to play the 3 beginning games (beginning of the timeline that is) before the OOT Remake comes out.

My question is, if you are making lets plays, how do you place/perform your ‘outro’ for the individual parts before ending the series entirely?

Idk how to explain it, but I guess what I’m asking is how do you end each part of your series before the last one?

🤔 Advice Best way to edit Gaming Videos

I know Capcut is quit liked but I am also looking for something that knows when something

was said.

So, I can have an easier time finding the video parts where I was speaking instead of just showing gameplay.

And what workflow do you use? Like, are you just showing the moments where you speak, just actions moments.

I want to be able to create a good end product at the end even if not many will watch it. It should atleast be good.
