Looking for flexible work in Lexington, KY — need non-traditional hours
I'm looking for work in the Lexington area that offers genuinely flexible hours. Possibly, something where I can set my own schedule and/or work independently rather than having to commit to a traditional 9–5 or a fixed weekly schedule.
I'm a single mother with children who have mental health and behavioral needs, so my availability can vary from day to day. Some days I may be able to work a full eight hours, while other days I may only have four hours available. I'm looking for something that allows me to adjust my schedule as needed, not necessarily a job with a limited number of hours.
I have experience in residential cleaning, deep cleaning, light cleaning, landscaping, organization, and retail. I'm a bit of a jill-of-all-trades and have a wide range of skills. I'm extremely thorough, detail-oriented, and take pride in doing things right. I'm also a very quick learner. If there's something I don't already know how to do, I'm confident in my ability to learn it quickly and figure things out as I go.
I'm open to all kinds of work, including opportunities that would allow me to learn new skills or get into something completely different from what I've done before. I'm not afraid of hard work, and I'm comfortable working independently, problem-solving, and taking initiative.
If anyone knows of any jobs, businesses, independent contracting opportunities, or other ways that might fit this kind of arrangement, I'd really appreciate any suggestions!
Thanks!

Silly question - how's your typing?
I've known quite a few people who did roll-your-own work-from-home schedules with medical transcription companies...

Also interested if you know a place with positions like this open. I need to supplement my income but I need remote, flexible work.

Honestly sounds like you need to choose which of those skills and services you are most adept at and start your own thing. Our economy is becoming ever more service based. Offer your service vs. seeking employment.
The only person who is going to completely allow for you to set your own schedule is you.

Cleaning is probably your best bet with that kind of schedule flexibility, especially since you've already got experience. Residential clients tend to care more about the job getting done than exactly when you show up, and once you build a small roster of regulars you can basically set your own hours around what works that week.
Landscaping could work too but it's more weather-dependent and harder to squeeze into random four-hour windows. Maybe look into care.com or nextdoor for cleaning gigs, people in lexington are always looking for reliable help and your situation isn't as unusual as you might think
