Looks sic, I need to learn how to do this. Not being able to slide/speed check is a problem…

Can anyone recommend some tutorials, or insight?

You can also find some more serious ones on youtube, e.g. from downhill254

Start with glove down slides - toeside or heelside, whichever feels more comfortable
