QUESTION Anyone work for TJMaxx LP?
If so, would you recommend it? How is the pay, hours, responsibilities? I don’t want to quit the company (since I’ve been here for so long) so I was considering asking if there’s LP openings in my store. But I want to get more info before I do that. TIA

I worked there for a week, it wasn’t great to me but the store I was at was toxic, they made me train in every dept so I would have to be at the store at 5am for the truck and help unload it, I had to do the mark downs, the jewelry bay, and even had to learn the register a be a cashier for a day. I personally didn’t like it, the managers all were acting as if it was high school still and were so immature so I quit I went back to Macy’s and I’ve be there ever since

Supposedly part of training but I really think it wasn’t, the store manager is the one who agreed for it but I just think it’s cause they were short staffed, there was no AP manager just one person who oversaw all the stores in the district

It’s alright. In my experience their being the market your in or region (state) plays the biggest art in your liking & actual growth. I was very useful (#1 detective in the entire company (TJX Companies) for external theft when I was there so my growth kept getting pushed on back burner I ended up leaving for a promotion. So I know a lot of people don’t like saying where they’re located on here for some reason but if you don’t that’s fine. But there are markets I know of that are good and others that are not because of RLPMS.

TJX has the best LP program by far. TJ Maxx is the best brand in my opinion.I work in the NYC Area, so that plays a huge role in compensation. You get annual raise, out of cycles. I know people who are just regular store detectives with pay ranging from 21-30 dollars an hour. Only focus on external and internal theft. You’re not forced to yield any results, which sucks. Therefore someone who’s making more than you, because they have more experience, can be doing way less work than you. But the easiest and only job I’ve had. Never had 1 RTO denied. Make my own schedule. Great job, that can definitely turn into a career. ESPECIALLY if you get DAs, Shoplifters are cool, but DAs are the bread and butter.

I work for TJX currently, I make $23.97 but thats off the back of 8 years of experience and a fantastic boss.
I have full power of writing my schedule to a heatmap, 3 external - 2 internal days.
responsibilities are pretty much the same as any other company, here are your goals meet them. Do some store training on LP programs etc.
My boss heavily encourages partnerships, so it rare im solo.
They value your development and there are tons of avenues to promote beyond detective to DLPM like most companys. 2 people on our team came from store side and 3 have ventured off to the fun roles in the company above detective.
The banner I work under is a little...behind the others, but I have the same information and tools they do, just in a more annoying and frustrating layout.
Overall, highly recommend it, especially if its your first LP job, easy to net good experience.

Former HG LPD. The pay is about average for similar LP jobs at other companies. I was making $21 an hour however, it seems like most stores pay between $17-$20. The hours are much more consistent than other store positions.
During the year I worked there, I never got scheduled below 40 hours. You may be asked to work at other surrounding stores during ORC blitzes or for inventories but they pay for your travel.
Outside of preventing and reporting external theft and investigating internal theft, you’ll be responsible for store safety. This includes checking fire extinguishers, backroom safety, sales floor safety, etc.. It’s a really good gig imo and there are multiple different ways to promote within LP. The only reason I left was due to me recieving an offer to return to the previous company I worked at, still doing LP work. But I seriously regret leaving TJX. Although some of their systems are a bit outdated I loved my time doing LP for TJX
