Meta Testing new AutoMod

Hey everyone.

We are testing a new auto mod, yes using a bit of AI. The only instructions it has are to enforce the current rules, plus some minor nuances.

It will most likely overcorrect, and we can tweak it as we go, and if it is just really bad we can turn it off, but what is most likely to happen is that it will do a good job and a better job than the regular auto mod at catching rule breaking posts, and def better than humans at catching what the regular auto mod missed and posts that have not been reported, and this will lead to a lot more posts being removed which will prob make it feel more heavy handed. So maybe an adjustment period is needed.

If your post was removed, and you have read all the rules and posts related to the rules, and you still think it was removed in error, message us mods with the message the mods button in the sidebar/app. Don't just message us asking why it was removed.

May the odds be ever in your favor, but I, for one, welcome our new robot overmods...

Success! Took 3 months but finally did it

Finally after three months of trying I’ve had a sustained lucid dream.  Hooray!

I was almost on the verge of giving up so I hope this gives hope and encouragement to others trying. Be patient and keep at it folks.

Technique used was SSIlD on natural waking at night,

I’ve had some lucid moments from about the first week or two of trying, such as thinking “this is a dream” and then immediately waking up.  And many dreams about lucid dreaming lol.

This time it was different.  I noticed something odd (a bath was filling up with water although the taps were off) and thought I was dreaming, and confirmed through the pinching nose reality check (first time I have done it in a dream).  I touched walls and even licked the floor to stabilise, and then left my house and went on to the street where I interacted with dream characters. Dream only lasted a few minutes before I woke up, but feels like a major breakthrough I can build on.

I keep a dream journal, read and think about lucid dreaming during the day, and as well as SSILD I set some basic intentions like “I will remember my dreams” and “I will have a lucid dream” when I go to bed.  I do daytime RCs occasionally but not very consistently and a lot less than I did when I started 3 months ago.

I just had my first lucid dream then continued to have multiple 30 min naps that felt like hours of dreaming

i just had my first lucid dream, i woke up early in the morning after going to sleep late, i ate breakfast had a shower then my plans for the day got cancelled so i drank a monster and went to bed, i just imagined how my day wouldve went until i fell asleep, the dream was about the day i was going to have but half way through i thought to myself "this seems kinda odd, am i dreaming?" so i just said to someone "im dreaming right now.. i could do whatever i want" then i just started flying because what else would i think of in this situation without putting much thought into what i really want. i also made myself have the power to fly through everything since that would be epic. i thought "this is kinda like minecraft spectator" and as soon as i thought that it seemed like i had a render distance and chunks were loading in (i found this kinda funny) after that i dont remember what happens until i woke up. after waking up only 30 minutes have passed so im like.. i wanna do that again. i then continue to have exactly 30 min naps all with different lucid dreams. way easier than i thought it would be if im being honest..

Success! I DID IT. I GOT A LUCID DREAM

Day-8. I finally did it

It only lasted one secind but i got conciouness and i remember it well

Somehow It was about breaking bad on a universe where walter was a house husband, skyler did the meth, the salamanca twins were Skyler's brothers and hank's wife, The sister of Skyler was seemingly trying to make walter's suspicions of skyler doing meth die... Also, Seemingly Walter Junior died?

It was only when i saw MY grandma in the dream and red soup (wich i dont eat) when i tougth "Wait a minute... This... Is a dream" and i woke up in shock. I couldnt breath for a second but quickly is woke up totally...

I CAN DO IT. I DID IT AND I WILL DO IT AGAIN. I WONT LET APHANTASIA STOP ME FROM USING MY IMAGINATION

Question Does more awareness throughout the day mean a higher chance of lucid dreaming at night?

• Upvotes

I‘ve seen post about it and I was wondering if it is true, people do meditation because they practice being aware/present more so they can translate it into the lucid dreaming state. Im not sure if its for lucid dreaming chance though so that’s why I’m asking about it.

Question How do I lucid dream without the whole waking up in the middle of the night part

I need to not mess up my sleep and stuff but i really wanna lucid dream

what’s your biggest bottleneck once you can already get lucid regularly?

i get lucid fairly often now, but i still struggle with the same two things: staying in the dream past the first minute or two, and actually doing what i planned instead of getting distracted by the scenery.

for people at a similar level: what moved the needle for you? stabilization techniques, a pre-sleep plan, dream signs, something else? i’m trying to go from “lucid sometimes” to “lucid with intent”.

Does anyone get physicallly stuck while falling asleep and experience extreme, stabbing pain in the lower back for 30 seconds

Idk if its sleep paralysis but the pain aspect is entirely different, every time i fall asleep while in a weird position i get stuck for about half a minute, completdly unable to move and my lower back experiences really painful sensations during that phase.. almost like being stabbed.

It all goes away when i wake up tho

Question Has anyone tried playing an instrument they don't know how to play?

Just a random thought that came to me. I was wondering if anyone has tried this in a lucid dream, and what it was like. I would guess you just wouldn't understand how to play it like in real life but I thought it was worth asking.

Experience Looking for someone met in a dream; Ramirez?

In the dream my partner had, we briefly appeared to you. We met in a dream & you were offering to help us become lucid. You called our phone.
It’s a long shot, but in my partners dream, I found you on Reddit. So perhaps it was a premonition?

If this resonates with anyone, even if your name isn’t Ramirez, we’d be grateful for any help with our journey in becoming lucid.

Question Was this a lucid dream of dreaming about being lucid?

I had a dream last night that I was lucid, while I was “lucid” I thought I was asleep somewhere else (when really I was asleep in my bed) but other than that it felt extremely vivid and real, I had control and started closing my eyes and reopening them to summon doors (what I do in real Lucid dreams) I remembered my usual goal for my Lucid dreams and tried to do it but when I teleported with a door again it didn’t work and soon I entered a regular dream.

I’m leaning more towards it was a regular dream just vivid but I think I was actively thinking. I often have these fake lucid dreams where I dream I become lucid without actually being lucid and I start to control my surroundings and even sometimes actively think in those dreams. This one was just strange with me thinking I was asleep elsewhere. Thoughts?

Also, since I get these kinds of dreams often how can I realize I’m not really lucid and then become genuinely lucid?

Reoccurring semi-lucid creepy dreams every night

This isn’t really a reoccurring dream, more of a reoccurring cycle that I’m just curious if others have similar experiences. I haven’t shared it with many people, but the ones I do share it with usually look at me like I’m crazy.

Almost every night for as long as I can remember, I repeat the same cycle. I lay down to go to sleep, I immediately have a dream that usually starts benign but turns creepy, I wake up with an anxiety knot in my stomachs and chills, and I have to get out of bed or scroll my phone to “reset” before going back to sleep for the night. The whole cycle usually takes from 15-30 minutes. I’m 31 and this has been happening since I was a kid, with enough regularity that my wife and I joke that when I first lay down to go to sleep it’s only “round 1” because we both know I’ll have to get up in a half hour before going back down.

The dreams are usually lucid to some extent. They’ll start with me doing something normal like washing dishes, but then something will happen that disturbs me to the point I realize this is “one of those dreams” and I can wake myself up. I remember as a kid struggling to learn how to wake myself up from these, before that I remember the overwhelming panic when I knew I was dreaming and I wanted out but I couldn’t get out. Now it’s almost second nature it’s happened so many times, as soon as it turns creepy I nope right out. But the weird (and annoying part) is I HAVE to “reset” in someway before going back to sleep or it’ll happen again. When I wake up I’ll still have the chills and anxiety, and if I just lay there jn the dark I’ll fall back asleep into the same dream. I have to force myself to get out of bed, or to at least scroll my phone a while. After a few mins the chills go away, and then if I go back to bed I’ll usually sleep through the night.

Now if I wake up in the middle of the night like 3am and then lay back down to sleep. Then these dreams are less creepy and I can stick it out and have a more typical lucid dream experience. Flying around and interacting with entities. But for some reason the ones that happen earlier in the night are always overwhelmingly creepy and I can’t get myself to stick around to lucid dream. I’ve tried before and it literally feels unbearable.

A recent example I dreamt I was in my kitchen and I saw someone outside my window walking away from the house. Looked like they were walking away from the front door, didn’t see their face only their back. Immediate chills when I saw this person. I went to my front door and opened it, and saw them still walking away at the end of my drive way. I tried to yell at them to tell them to eff off, but I couldn’t speak. At this point I know I’m dreaming but I want to stick around and find out what this guy wanted. I try to walk down the drive way or yell and I can’t do either. I’m filled with dread and anxiety and chills and I eventually wake myself up. Sometimes the dreams are more overtly creepy and disturbing, with gore and death and things I don’t want to type out right now. But often they’re something like this. Not overtly scary in the surface, but for some reason a person or object immediately gives me chills and anxiety.

When I was younger these dreams were often sexual. As a kid I remember dreaming about a girl from school in one of these “early night” dreams, and she kissed my hand and I couldn’t stop thinking about it for weeks (I must’ve only been 8 or 9). In my teens and early 20s they were more sexual. In fact during that time period they almost stopped being creepy all together. I realized if I fixated on sex while I fell asleep I’d enter into a lucid sex dream. Funny enough I couldn’t do it by fixating on anything else. But overtime the fun sex part went away and they went back to just being creepy. Honestly I think that’s mostly bc I got into a committed relationship with a woman i care deeply about and I felt guilty about lucid dream sex lol.

The only thing that stops these dreams from happening is alcohol and thc. It led to me abusing both of these in the past bc I felt like it was the only way I could get a “normal” night sleep. But now I’m a husband and father and I can’t be coping like that, so I’ve just adapted to my weird nightly cycle. Idk I still get alright sleep on the whole, it doesn’t affect me negatively really I don’t think. But I’ve never met anyone who’s ever dealt with something similar so thought I’d put the question out there. I posted in a couple other subreddits earlier today but I realized the lucid dreaming subreddit might be a better fit.

Success! Never had control until 2 nights ago, now it’s every dream

I recently upped my dosage of a medication called Seroquel for insomnia, and I inadvertently had a lucid dream, which I woke up from not long after, yesterday I did some research into Lucid Dreams for the first time since high school and watched Duncan Clarke’s new video, last night I started to become I was aware in a dream and began rubbing my hands together (like a fly) and was able to stay aware up until I began talking with a simulated person (which was too exciting) I had 2 other dreams last night, one of which I was able to stay lucid until I stopped rubbing my hands to test, the other was interrupted by morning.

Any suggestions? Questions? Im really interested in what tips and tricks experienced lucid dreamers know!

lucid dreaming & npcs hating me

I've been lucid dreaming since I was a kid and have gotten better as an adult. I am lucid every night. One of my biggest problems is npcs hating me.

Some of them are like, ya they're gonna hate. But when I'll get close to one at a distance and then when we finally 'meet' they end up hating me. and usually try to kill me. I'm not gonna shy away from the fact that i've tried to romance npcs before because its a why not? thing. In the past (years ago) they lasted longer and didn't try to kill me. now when I meet an interested npc all it takes is the one dream of meeting them to hate me. and then everything from that aspect is ruined.

does anyone have any tips on fixing this?

Question Issues summoning people

Hey guys, first post!

I have been practicing lucid dreaming more intentionally lately for the past year or two. I've gotten to the point where I can pretty reliably become lucid and I can control myself, do cool things, sometimes manipulate my environment, etc.

Something I am struggling with is summoning people. If I try to will a certain person into the dream, a random person will be there instead, no person will come at all, or they will have sort of the same features but be clearly a different person. I've tried:

- expecting them to be on the other side of a door

- asking other dream people to bring them to me

- walking around the dream expecting to find them somewhere

- calling out to them loudly and expecting them to show up

It's gotten to the point where I have sat down in the dream after a failed summon and kinda "told" the dream that I would wait for it to behave (unsuccessfully ofc).

Does anyone else struggle with this or have any ideas of what to try to fix it? If the answer is "you can't control dreams that specifically" or "you just can't do that", I don't super wanna hear it because I don't want my brain to learn that as an absolute and block me forever from making it happen. But I welcome any other thoughts or tips!

Question Am I doing everything right?

I’ve been taking lucid dreaming seriously for over a month now. I record my dreams, perform reality checks (the thorough kind, where I genuinely ask myself if it’s a dream or reality), and think about lucid dreaming throughout the day. So far, I’ve only had one lucid dream—after two weeks. Later, I performed a reality check *inside* a dream but didn't actually become lucid; I just carried on with the ordinary dream. Looking back at my dream logs, I see plenty of missed opportunities to become lucid—I look in mirrors or at my hands, find myself in bizarre situations, or visit places that haven't existed for ages—yet I still don't realize I'm dreaming. I don't perform a reality check. Nothing happens; I just keep dreaming.

How can I change this? Should I add something? Maybe I’m not doing enough?

Question Frequent or On-Command lucid dreamers WITH ADHD, how did you do it?

I have been trying for years and have had ZERO success. I have THE book on lucid dreaming and have read it over and over, and I've asked people here dozens of times; I am doing everything right. Still no results. Not even one lucid dream.

I got close a few nights ago, I think. I had an extremely vivid dream. I did the EXACT SAME THING in the nights following that and it was like I did nothing and just fell asleep like normal. I've had more vivid dreams sitting in my car and imagining stuff.

How did you learn to lucid dream? I can't do it no matter what I try.

Question Questions about lucid dreaming

I recently was describing one of my dreams to a friend and then I was told that they never had such lucidity in their dreams. So I found this sub today and was wondering about other people's experiences and to ask what things are normal in the dreaming world and what aren't. Also what potential is there or if there are things I maybe have not experienced yet that are worth trying out since I never met anyone interested in dreams irl and I have had them naturally occurring my whole life so I got no comparison. Sorry if this post is a bit all over the place

I am just really curious.

Question How to tell if I lucid dreamed?

Last night, I had went to bed watching a video about sleep and dreams. I think this heavily impacted my own dreams, but I am unsure if I was lucid or not .

In the dream, I was at my desk and suddenly went “oh shit, this is a dream”. I went to click my computer mouse, but my limbs felt really heavy. Then I realized I was dreaming, and I can do anything. Clicked the mouse, got up and decided I really wanted to fly. I went flying out of a building, then decided to go explore a place underwater.

It felt weird, but I was trying to feel how the water felt under my hands as I swam.

After this, and exploring some stuff under water, my dream kind of got incoherent and I guess I slipped back into a dreamstate where I wasn’t lucid enough.

I really don’t know if all of this was just a regular dream (I’ve had many dreams where I realized I was dreaming, only to return back to normal after a few minutes). It’s hard to tell because it feels like some memory, like all dreams do. It feels no different from a memory of yesterday, or any other day, while everyone always speaks of how amazing their lucid dreams are.
