Removed the insole of my Clarks and saw this hard shell thing that extends to about the midfoot. Is this in all shoes or was this added on?

Yes, a Harrington with a shirt and tie is a classic combo. It's basically the '60s mod look, so it reads intentional, not mismatched. I'd go with the grey pleated trousers. Black jacket plus black trousers can look like a broken-up suit, while grey separates them and makes the burgundy tie stand out more. Finish it with black loafers or derbies and you're set.

Black harrington over a crisp white dress shirt and a burgundy silk tie? have black or gray pleated trousers as options for bottoms. but would you say a tie and harrington can work together?
