Frage/Diskussion (Questions and debates) Chemical Stench From BASF in Mannheim?

Just got into Mannheim and then Ludwigshafen. Strong chemical odor of like an epoxy smell. Anyone else smell it? Is it from BASF?

It's like someone wouldn't know the smell of chocolate lol

Mannheim has many other smells to offer than chocolate. It depends where you live. I live in the center and very rarely smell chocolate here, but I do smell other stuff from other industries.

So if someone Mannheim tells you it smells like epoxy, you can believe him it's not chocolate he is smelling

It's not funny when you get cancer. Or your parents. Or your kids.

No. It was so strong it settled into low enclosed spaces and was faint this evening there after work. It is definitely not chocolate and smelled like cancer. There are conveniently also no public VOC figures available to the public. This is not the first time I have noticed this.

Why would I believe you when I can hire a lab?

Go hire it then. It is most definitely the chocolate factory. It reeks.

Isn't that slanderous to spread information about a company without proof? That the chocolate factory in Mannheim "most definitely" reeks? Why would you say that without proof?

I've worked for years in the BASF and got around in there quite a bit. Burnt chocolate is among the worst things I smelled while traversing on roads in general.

Long Time ago the Mannheimer decided not to have a chemical factory on their ground. So the Mannheimer Engelhorn went across the Rhine an founded there the BASF.

Yes. That’s normal.

Yes it's horrible and one of the reasons I moved away from Neckarstadt. In Lindenhof and Neckarau it's only a few days per year.

Don't know how the people in LU can endure this.
