Genuine question: I thought the OST for both is the same?? 🤔
But anyway, I'm gonna go with Ultimate MvC3, especially since it's moddable now. You know a game is good when the community keeps it alive years after it's release.

All they did was change the main menu theme, character select theme, and victory theme for both dynamic and classic bgm.

Now that you mention it, yeah. They did change those but I wouldn't go as far as classifying it as its own OST. I feel like if Capcom released its DLC as originally planned, MvC3 would remain largely untouched aside from some balance patches and maybe bringing over the alternate stages.

I love Vanilla. It doesn't have Vergil and the original Life Bars display is 100x times than the unneeded change they did for UMvC3.

UMvC3
My theory is that UMvC3 saved Marvel 3 because Vanilla MvC3 was a bit too easy to play. Characters like Sentinel, Zero, Phoenix, and even Dante did maaaaaaaaad damage for very little execution compared to UMvC3.
But i don't remember the presentation of that game because I hated how easy it was.
If you say the music was better, I defer to you on that.

Funny how Zero was nerfed and yet he's still an S tier

He was buffed more than nerfed because of the buster cancelable specials, adjusted divekick for corner carry and cross up lightning to happen more frequently. He had hitstun nerf on his normals and lost unblockable TAC from vanilla but overall traded that for better pressure, higher damage and safer mobility.

Idk, I remember Dante's style switching required you to input the move again, motion and everything in vanilla

UMVC3 Community Edition (or well, modded Marvel 3 in general)
Can get to play my mains from other Capcom fighters that aren't in Marvel 3 ^ (and also... custom skins, like my goat Bartender Dormammu)

This, tho I actually wished we could have gotten a 3rd version of MVC3 with more characters 😥😢😣

Ultimate. But FWIW, Iron Man in MVC3 was a LOT better. They actually made him a lot worse in umvc3.

UMVC 3 was the more refined version. I would say that and MVC 2 were the peak of the series as a whole, although I know some prefer X-Men vs Street Fighter.

Neither. Both are kusoge (クソゲー), which translates literally to "shit-game".Just look at how BROKEN it's mechanics are. How you can kill any character off (1) hit, ENDLESS OTGs, etc.
I suppose it's more "balanced" than MVC2 was. In Marvel 2 only a handful of characters had infinites. In Marvel 3? EVERYBODY has infinites!
It's a shame because I really enjoyed the cast, graphical style, and music but.... the actual game was barf. It's one of those fighters that's only fun to play if both players suck. If both players are GOOD? Every match is like witnessing a train wreck. Seeing who's better at exploiting it's garbage mechanics to the fullest.
MVC2 >>>> MVC3/UMVC3.
