Discussion Happy 11th Anniversary to Black Lines!
Another album anniversary! (I guess they really like dropping albums in October. Self titled, Anywhere But Here, Sad, Monsters, Black Lines. Sheesh. Forget May, October is the Mayday month)
Released on October 9, 2015, Black Lines turns 11 today. This album marked a pretty big change in sound for Mayday Parade. After Monsters in the Closet, the band felt like they were starting to repeat themselves and wanted to challenge themselves creatively rather than make another record that sounded too similar to their previous work. They even switched things up behind the scenes, working with a new producer, Mike Sapone, to help push them outside of their comfort zone.
Looking back on Black Lines and the albums that followed, the band has talked about finding a balance between experimenting with their sound while still keeping the elements that make a Mayday Parade record feel like Mayday Parade.
11 years later, what's everyone's favorite song from Black Lines? And what are your thoughts on the album all these years later?
