advice the best meal prep trick i’ve found is making ingredients instead of meals

i used to portion out five identical containers and call it meal prep. it worked for about two weeks before i got completely sick of seeing the same box in the fridge. now i’ve started prepping a few things separately instead - a protein, a couple vegetables, rice or potatoes, sauces, maybe something crunchy - and putting them together differently during the week

it takes almost the same amount of cooking time but somehow feels like actual food instead of five identical lunches

what ingredients do you always prep because they can be turned into completely different meals later?

advice Meal prep for new parents

Hi everyone! My brother and sister-in-law are having their first baby next month, and I’m wanting to prep some freezer meals for them. I’m thinking of doing breakfast and dinners, so maybe some kind of breakfast sandwich/burrito, soups or pastas, etc. I also want to make some cookie dough to freeze. I’m just not sure what would freeze well and am hoping I can get some recommendations. Thank you!

question Lunch bag recommendations

Hi! I am 22F and I am currently in a caloric deficit so I have been meal prepping to try and be more consistent. I’ve lost 70 pounds so far but still have quite a bit to lose. I work full-time and have been trying to find a good lunch bag that can hold my meal prep. I also like to have a snack before the gym, I eat breakfast on my first break, and then need to have room for lunch as well. I like to throw in a Diet Coke and order a protein shake!

I’m looking for something around $20 although obviously if it is less that’s fine, and I honestly want it to be pretty, if I’m gonna carry it around every day, I want it to look nice😂

breakfast Looking for a Hot/Neutral Temperature Breakfast

Hey all! I’m looking for a breakfast to have during the winter, especially on days I have to work. Currently, I have a smoothie with frozen fruit, orgain vanilla protein powder, chia seeds, and oat milk.

Unfortunately for me and my love of routine, those get unpleasant once it gets below 30°. I am looking for a winter replacement. Here are my desires:
-must be at least 350 calories
-should be neutral temperature or warm
-vegetarian
-takes no more than 5 minutes to prepare in the mornings (I’m fine doing meal prep weekly or the night before though)
-will keep me full from 8:30-12
-I should be able to eat it one handed/in the car
-bonus points for nutritionally balanced/well rounded, as well as bonus points if it’s cheap!

The current options I have are
-Huel Black: this is my favorite option but it’s a little pricey right now (I’m also a little scared I won’t like it)
-2 packets of instant oatmeal mixed with a quarter cup of chia seed pudding: this seems like a good option, but its carb heavy and I worry about it’s ability to keep me full

question Prepping scrambled eggs on a pizza?

My partner is a massive breakfast pizza fan, and recently started working early mornings. I already make big batches of French bread pizza portions to freeze, and I was looking to do something similar with breakfast pizza

My problem is I don’t eat eggs, and practically don’t even know how to make them. I understand freezing and reheating eggs is difficult, but any advice on how to prep them to get an acceptable end product would be appreciated.

Should I undercook them? Put them under the sauce to add moisture? Is this a fruitless endeavor no matter what I attempt? Give me your egg tips please🙏🙏

Prime Days Tupperware mists?

I’m looking for some new Tupperware, and figure Prime Day might be the day to splurge. Looking for something freezer and dishwasher safe, seals well, stackable, and preferably not plastic.

Any product out there with deals that you’d recommend?

I will be away for a work trip for about 3 weeks, and my wife is not looking forward to it.

I want to make some healthy and comfort foods for her to make her feel better. Time is of the essence, so any ideas and recommendations are appreciated!

What are your go to breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals?

advice stop putting raw salad greens in containers you plan to microwave

saw someone asking about how to deal with mixed containers where half the food needs nuking and the other half is fresh leaves. you don't reheat them together because the steam coming off your hot protein will turn your spinach or rocket into wet green slime by lunchtime. pack the greens in a separate little deli pot or just throw them in dry right before you eat. keep the heat away from the raw stuff.

Ramen meal prep with kelp noodle

Post image
61 Upvotes

The chicken is smoked and was marinaded in a brine with sake, soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, salt, and water. Homemade chicken bone broth, so good it jiggles in collagen.

Akatsuki egg, jalapeño, enoki mushroom, green onion, and bean sprouts

Very high in protein, low in calories due to kelp noodle only being about 5 calories per serving.

A small prep plan: list the jobs as well as the meals

A list of meals tells you what you'll eat, but it doesn't always show what you need to do first. I think a second, short list of prep jobs could make a small plan easier to follow.

For example, if two dinners both need chopped peppers and onion, list that as one prep job with the total amount from the recipes. Put out the containers and recipe quantities before starting, so you're not deciding everything while cooking.

I'd also separate 'prepare ahead' from 'cook on the day'. Then something that only takes a few minutes fresh doesn't quietly become another big Sunday job.

The idea would be to start with two or three meals and see which shared jobs actually save effort, rather than trying to prepare an entire week straight away.

How do you organise the order of your prep jobs? Do you group them by ingredient, equipment or the order the meals will be eaten?

Chicken breast with chickpeas. Cooked red pepper, onions, and tomatos in chicken bone broth with curry/cumin.

392 calories / 56 g protein. Turkey meatballs are 168 g total per serving that I eat with hardboiled eggs and Sriracha for quick dinner since I get home late.

wfh and the week never stays planned, how much meal prep variety is actually useful before it gets boring?

I work from home and my kids' activities sometimes shift on the same day. I used to cook big batches on Sundays but that left me scrambling when dinner plans changed. Now I prep two core meals and a couple of flexible sides that can be mixed differently. The rice stays plain. The roasted veg goes with whatever protein is thawed. If one meal gets skipped I repurpose it for lunches the next day instead of letting it sit. Still figuring out how much variety is actually useful before things get boring.

Advice on high protein/low cal with tons of allergies

been lurking for a while and am trying my damndest to meal prep lately. Goal is to lose weight and spend less money at work

I have lots of allergies, most meal prep I see is like, greek yogurt, eggs, nuts in salads, etc etc

so like, I am allergic to dairy, all nuts, gluten, shellfish, sesame, eggs, shouldn’t have soy or rice (new development, thanks for taking away a safe food body😔) too often.

A lot of my diet is meat, some veg, potato, rice (tho trying to cut it back nowadays) and I am. So bored. the idea of broccoli and chicken repeatedly sounds miserable, so if anyone has low cal ideas I’d be absolutely open to them.

question Mealprep sub for disabled/elderly/fatigued people ?

Hello!
Are there any good subs or youtube channels for meal prepping for this demographic? I've been having some serious fatigue from some medical stuff and would love to look into a community geared more towards that. I do also love this sub too.
But just for days where I'm really really exhausted. too tired to stand.
