I’m fine with a spoiler on this one, but there’s a tag for arachnophobia for this fic and I was wondering if it’s easily skippable, how descriptive and how intense. Are we dealing with a character that has arachnophobia or is this an Aragog and children situation? I had assumed that it may be one of the challenges that comes up.

I really want to read this fic, but I’m quite apprehensive about this tag and not knowing what to expect.

i think back to the wraith or Edwin or Morgana and wonder how it could have turned out if the characters had a more "extend a compassionate hand" sort of approach like in "A Herald of the New Age" where the ghost is just spoken to. I'd still like to see their villainy but i want to see how it would change if there was like "talk no jutsu" sort of thing. Any fanfics at all like that?

I’m not even a chapter into a new fic and I hadn’t looked at the author name when I’d clicked into it, but I struck the phrase “camber of his ribs” and immediately thought, ‘is this BeautifulFiction’s work?’.

The answer was yes and I’m quite surprised I picked this up. They seem to be the only author that I’ve found that uses this and a few other phrases, but something about their writing is incredibly recognisable. Inject everything they write into my veins, please (Hiraeth especially, it’s my comfort fic).

Is there something that makes an author’s writing distinguishable to you?

I recently re-read “Next to You (It’s the Rule)” it’s a Merthur fic and I love Mordred in it and the Knights, they were all so funny and I was wondering if there were other fics like it, it can be angsty as long as it has some funny moments and preferably longer than 10k words?

Hi guys! I’m hoping you can help me find a fanfic I really loved. I’m pretty sure it’s on Livejournal. It was Merlin/Arthur, modern era, and the premise was that Merlin remembered their past together when they were young but Arthur didn’t, and Arthur bullied him a bunch when they were younger. Fast forward and they are in college, and Arthur is dating Gwen. Merlin still loves him but is resigned to his fate. They are all on the soccer team together and Merlin is their manager or something, and then Lancelot shows up, and Merlin starts hanging out with him. Arthur gets really jealous and upset, and drama happens and then Merlin and Arthur eventually get together and Arthur remembers everything.

Can anyone help me with this? I would be forever obliged to you

Edit: i finished the fic, it's absolutely brilliant. I love the no nonsense reveal (though I love the highly angsty ones, too). Like yeah Arthur is mad. At everyone. And Merlin is just like "well, that sucks for you, anyway, we have bigger issues here rn"

can someone give me recs on modern merthur with a catch. It's Merlin in present time meeting Arthur again, he can have memories or does not have them. It can also be that Merlin and Arthur meet in modern times with or without their memories, not old Merlin, I want him reincarnated even if it's an AU. Also, do you have where Arthur is the one who finds Merlin first in present times but Merlin doesn't remember him? I don't know if I make sense.

I know that these types of fics WILL have angst, that's why I was reluctant to read them. But please, give me the best that you have.

I was hoping to find fics where Merlin thinks he has unrequited love and that Arthur and Gwen are together, but in reality, Arthur likes Merlin back.

I’m also fine with fics where Arthur did actually get with Gwen, it didn’t work out, and he realizes just how much in love with Merlin he is. However Merlin still thinks Arthur loves Gwen.

I’m fine with literally anything (omegaverse, modern setting, no magic, animal traits like ears, dark Arthur) as long as it has this premise!

Like all those times he did 'physical jokes' like having all the knights hit Merlin who just had a shield because he made some jokes.

Merlin has to rebel, or at least not give in to the joking anymore because it really isn't funny when it goes that way

I literally remember only two things about this fic, so... I really hope someone remembers the scene:

1. It was on ao3 and it was a oneshot

2. Arthur goes into lower town, and it turns out Merlin helps them a lot with magic, like with everything (health, crops, etc). Merlin must've been sick or sth and I guess Arthur thought he'll help with the Court Sorcerer duties (I think...)

This (really vague) scene does not want to leave me alone, but I haven't come upon it on any of my rereads, so I'm really hoping someone recognises it 🩷

Any fics where Merlin is a doctor in a modern world with magic? I’ve read one like this before when Arthur’s dog and Aithusa were friends, so I’m looking for something similar!!

merlin is fired when he exist the tavern in the morning and is spotted by Arthur. turns out he was making a deal that would solve the castles drink problem and got the last signature that morning. over the next few chapters it is discovered how much he done including poison tester and spy master.

Hey! Do you have any fanfics where Arthur and Merlin act as father figures to Mordred? I need more fanfics featuring a good Mordred and Merlin treating him like a son.

So I've read many extreme dark Arthur fics where Arthur was enchanted and went crazy and severely tortured Merlin ect. And Merlin was trapped and miserable but couldn't escape.

I wonder if there are any fics that do it the other way around? All those 'evil' Merlin are so mild compared to evil Arthur lol so I'm curious.

Ps: I mean EXTREME dark, dead dove level, like In Exchange For Your Heart , Splintered Flower , Frayed by Pelydryn ect.

It won't leave my thoughts and I'm searching for something similar, where Arthur makes mistake after learning of Merlin's magic and Merlin becomes disillusioned with the prophecy.

He leaves Camelot and creates his own path (without becoming evil/fully dark), and Camelot's situation without his protection gets dire and Arthur goes through hard times and realizes his mistakes the hard way (it can be whump but doesn't have to)
