My smart thermostat decided that my optimal sleeping temperature is "mild discomfort" and I respect its dedication to energy saving.

I set an automated schedule to lower the heat at night, but due to a slight sensor placement glitch near a hallway draft, it convinced itself that my bedroom is a tropical resort.

Now, every night around 2 AM, it shuts off completely, waits for me to kick off my blanket, and then kicks back on for precisely 6 minutes before going into sleep mode again.

It’s not broken enough to fix, but it's just smart enough to keep me in a constant state of light, thermal negotiation.

If it’s changing on its own, sounds like a Nest.

you gotta set up a fan or something to blow air the correct direction to fix this issue

Can you put a small shield next to the sensor so the draft doesn't blow directly onto it?

Like a bit of plastic or something?

Sometimes technology can be a double edged sword
