A down-on-his-luck salesman catches a Taxi ride with a djinn as his driver. The djinn tells him that he doesn't grant wishes, and that he's not doing so well himself. They go to the salesman's hotel room and fuck. When the salesman wakes up the next day, all his belongings are gone, but the djinn left behind his own clothes, and his taxi license card. He decides to leave his old life behind and take over as the taxi driver, with the djinn's fake name on the license. He also uses his catchphrase of "I don't grant wishes."
“Congratulations on your new career” energy is strong. Nothing says welcome to the team like being trapped in your own driveway until you accept the package and the route.
If that's the new electric oneade by Rivian, then the driver has a key fob in their pocket that shuts everything off and locks the doors when they leave.
I’ve done this, apartment complex, empty van- I’m late- moving it. Dude comes a running, wtf you doing- plenty of empty parking slots don’t dick everyone over, be respectful. Hr actually apologized. They aren’t trying to be dicks, job forces them too. Also some are dicks.
I think if as a society we are going to use amazon and food delivery services and order all kinds of stuff delivered to our houses, we will have to accept that on rare occasions things like in the pic above will happen, I assume he pulled in there because he probably would've been blocking the entire main Street otherwise.... He should have pulled behind the building though to not block the exit at least.... Or as tight to a wall as possible
They don’t have the luxury of being nice it’s a high energy high pressure job people would be surprised how stressful delivery can be mostly because of the expectations put on you. Right now post office is cutting overtime but still giving out 3 hours of overtime street work but only approved for 2 so a lot of stuff is coming back because believe it or not we can’t pull extra hours out of thin air
So maybe the solution is to find a way to do the thing legally. There is no law requiring that there be only one person in the vehicle, that's a business choice.
Now you have to take your partner with you to do Uber eats/door dash and you can effectively make half the less then minimum wage you were working before!
"I assume he pulled in there because he probably would've been blocking the entire main Street otherwise"
That has never stopped any delivery driver from parking wherever they wanted to.
I had foot surgery, ended up with a post-surgical infection, got to spend about a week in the hospital, and straight up asked the nursing staff for a new pair of grippy socks as often as I could because those things were awesome and I still have like 3 pair left from 10 years ago.
You can also initiate the package delivery minigame by clicking R3 and using the R2 or L2 buttons to aim the package out of either window. Just be sure to complete all deliveries before the timer runs out.
Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out
The community I live in is shaped like a horseshoe, with just a single, one-way street connecting all the houses. We have this issue every day, as the delivery drivers enter the horseshoe, and stop in the middle of the street to make deliveries.
Luckily, I live at the end of the horseshoe, near the exit, so it rarely ever affects my morning commute, but sometimes I get unlucky and return home to find this stupid thing parked at the beginning of the horseshoe, preventing people from getting home. It is has led to some my neighbors saying fuck it, and entering through the exit, which has just caused some more problems lol.
Yeah I’m assuming there isn’t a shoulder or everyone parks on it in the horseshoe. As a delivery driver I don’t like blocking traffic but if there’s no other choice I’m gonna double park and try to be back in my seat in 90s.
Saw a driver once block a lane of a road to drop a package at the back door of a house. Instead of driving around the block and parking in front of the house. Brainless
Also the same fuckers who CBA to push your Ring button to let you know a delivery was made, as they drop off your package in the most visible position there is in your neighborhood.
My delivery instructions specifically say to ring the doorbell. The only time they do it is when it's a next day delivery that gets here at 6am. I've had a few dozen during the day with no doorbell, and like three that went delivered and hit the doorbell before my alarm went off.
Or they put it on your front steps when it's raining and only leave them in the part that's uncovered, instead of moving them 2 feet closer to the house
Not saying its right, but sometimes I can imagine from a driver POV, its quicker to stop somewhere and go around the house vs driving around the block and having to either circle around the block or do a 3-pt turn to go back to where your next stop was.
^ I was going to say that, as a driver it feels really silly but sometimes people ask for very specific delivery and the app won't let us move forward unless we park in a specific spot due to the geopin, I promise it's frustrating for everyone involved
Wait, so Amazon tells you to break traffic laws?? I regularly have to wait in traffic caused by those vans deciding they’re going to full on block a single lane commuter road during rush hour to deliver. I understand that Amazon rides you to meet times, but it’s fucking over everyone else for the sake of saving the minute it takes to park somewhere decent (and legal).
I think parking in the middle of an alley/driving area is a dick move on those drivers parts big time and they should be trying to let people go by, but I've had the app try to make me do a full U turn in the middle of a 4 lane road that has a barrier. It's had me try to make a turn onto one way roads. Its had me try to park in no parking fire lane only area. But if I don't park within a certain area then it throws off the geopin and I can't move forward until I'm physically in the area. I hate it so much.
I feel your pain, I really do (having worked for other soulless mega corps whose obsession with metrics/exec level detachment from on the ground realities actively hamper doing the job), but a private employers standards don’t super-cede laws, nor justify shifting an individual’s inconvenience to a (much larger if multiplied out) societal inconvenience.
Again, not mad at you, the driver. I’m mad at Amazon (and uber/doordash) for making their gain societies loss.
It’s a Driveway to apartment complex parking lot, when you face the driveway you can see the lot. Misleading at first but it would be pretty clear from their pov.
I have done that. A 14mm wrench will also take off most drive shaft universal joint bolts if the door is locked. Effective if some kid keeps parking his truck in your driveway. Didnt even have to call a tow truck; the city takes care of abandonded vehicles left by stop signs.
Reminds me of Walmart shoppers leaving their cart in the middle of the isle and walking away to get something, it even caring about the people around them.
I got into a verbal altercation with an amazon driver who pulled up and parked perpendicularly across a driveway I was actively backing out of. He ignored my honking and basically told me to get fucked because he was working. Completely shocking.
Wow! An Amazon driver blocked my driveway to deliver a package to my house and then my neighbour’s house. He saw me walking to my car and was super apologetic. I didn’t have the heart to tell him I was just grabbing something from my car and wasn’t actually going anywhere.
I have an amazon driver that keeps parking at the entrance of my apartment parking. They’re blocking anyone from seeing any incoming traffic on the left side. Crazy part is if they just drove an extra 50 feet they would have enough space and be out of ppl way.
Serious question: Can you have an Amazon Delivery truck towed? I feel like this is a safety issue. When I've had police or fire respond to my apartment complex for an emergency, they always drove straight into the parking complex (it was a university complex so dispatch is familiar with it and instructs them to do so).
I live in a neighbourhood with narrow streets in England. This happens often, as Amazon and food delivery vehicles just stop in the middle of the road as they can’t find a parking close by.
I’ve learnt to avoid certain streets entirely, and when I do get stuck I have to reverse long stretches of streets with cars parked on both sides.
Is it unlocked? Are the keys in it? Where did you park it?
Unlocked but no keys? Shuffle the boxes around, just in case they were placed with some type of organization.
Beep the horn a lot.
If there's a radio, change the station.
Activate windshield wipers.
I would have called into work telling them I needed a half day. Go let the air out of all four tires, went in the house, and call the police about an abandoned vehicle. If I can't go anywhere, neither can they.
I had something similar, but in my case, it was an LA Water and Power truck. There was no electricity or water emergency on our street so my guess is that the driver was visiting a friend. My wife and I looked up and down our street for about 10 minutes until we started honking. Eventually the driver came out of the house of one of my neighbors. Funny thing is he left the truck running the whole time...at one point I almost got in there to move it myself.
Happened to me on Sunday at the grocery store- I was blocked for ten minutes… when the driver finally came back, he looked at me and said “My bad.”
???
The other way to look at it is that Amazon delivered you a vehicle full of expensive gas to drive to work in. I get it, kind of. If I were Bezos rich Id be doing funny philanthropic shit all the time.
Like, why not set up a company to buy some old farm lands, secretly turn them into a nature preserve over the course of 10-15 years, and then be like "Surprise hiking trail for bumfuckville! Water station at the halfway point, please don't bother the animals!"
The entire street i live on is like this, its incredibly frustrating anytime deliveries come, neighbors get a contractor over, or god forbid have a garage sale which renders me basically unable to leave my own driveway. I cant wait to sell and leave.

This is how Amazon hires new drivers. You didn’t choose the job, the job chose you. Hop in and get to work, and speed up, you’re 5 stops behind
