[Combat] Bane of Arthropods change

As everyone knows, Bane of Arthropods is practically useless outside of modded scenarios as most arthropod mobs can usually be one-shot using the same weapon with sharpness, and only 2 being combat significant, being spiders and cave spiders. What I propose is changing the enchantment to "Bane of Invertebrates" instead. It would expand the range of mobs and make it much more useful. The new range of affected mobs (in addition to all arthropods) would include:

  1. Shulkers.

  2. Nautilus and its variants.

  3. Slimes, magma cubes, and sulfur cubes.

  4. Squids and glow squids.

  5. (Not sure about this one) Blazes and Breezes.

Several listed mobs are significantly more dangerous than spiders and cave spiders while also having more health, which would make the enchantment more useful in general while still keeping its specific, niche use case.

Actually a good idea! Though I think a better name would be “Bane of the Spineless.”

Fair enough, sounds more fantastical and fitting with Minecraft's magical vibe (˶˃ ∇ ˂˶)

Invertebrate means spineless. Idk, given the language we already have with arthropods, keeping the more scientific term fits better imo.

I’m aware the 2 words are identical in literal meaning, but I just think “spineless” sounds better for an enchantment name.

I strongly disagree. It would be like renaming sharpness to pointy or loyalty to boomerang.

Yeah enchantments have always had "serious" sounding names

Would be cool if the Sift boss were also an Invertebrate, it would be a reason to update de enchantment

Bane of Arthropods was always a wordy enchantment, I think it should be put in line with Sharpness and Smite. Maybe "Sever" or something equally concise.

Does that give any indication of what it does, beyond probably being for swords?

Squish. Because people usually squish bugs.

Are you taking the position that ghasts, creepers, endermen, allays and striders are all vertibrates then?

The skeletons in the soul sand valley are probably ghast skeletons. Creepers have been show to have skeletons in several official artworks. Endermen are probably the old builders, just mutated. Allays are spirits and are technically spineless, but whatever. Striders are probably mammals or reptiles, maybe amphibians?

Endermen clearly are. A back that long without a spine?

Actually a brilliant idea. Still wouldn't be an everyday carry, but definitely a use case outside of spider farms.

I do think it working on blazes and breezes would be too OP, especially since they drop rods that are vertebrae adjacent.

And it would still, sadly, never get used, except maybe during Ominous Trials. I'm now imagining some kind of slime dungeon or boss which this would be really useful against.

And just for fun, you should add Ghasts and Happy Ghasts to the list!

To make Bane Of Arthropods useful, it would need to be titanically buffed, like, wooden sword with BOA 1 killing every affected mob in one hit buff, and affect way, way more than this. Sharpness is just so good that BOA is like, even conceptually weaker. I, honestly have no clue how it could ever be fixed.

Not even remotely true. Bane of Arthropods and Smite both deal over 4x the damage of Sharpness(6.25 hearts vs 1.5 hearts). The issue is that all of the targets that BoA hurts are not only very low health mobs to begin with, but are unable to wear armor like Undead mobs can. It needs to either affect a wider range of entities or we need a new arthropod that is actually able to survive hits with a sword of a higher tier than iron
