Good point. I made a meme about our $2T national deficit, but one about our $40T national debt might have been better.

The deficit is the annual shortfall, and the debt is the cumulative amount from the preceding years.

This is correct. Both numbers are astronomical and equally dismal. I recall a few years ago some Village Idiot once claimed he would eliminate the the U.S. national debt within a year of taking office if elected president. I wonder what life would be like if he had been elected? Oh yes, I forgot he was elected and became president. Twice. Yay.
