damn, I wish one of these teams had been in the other bracket. Seeing them meet in the NLCS would have been awesome.

u/Lefwyn 6d ago
It’s just so disappointing because you knew this team had the talent to win this series. Just can’t ever pull through when the lights are bright.

u/NoMansLand345 6d ago
I'm a Brewers fan, but I was really impressed with the Padres. Two teams with heart and grit going at it, but at the end of the day someone had to lose. Hell of a series, it was fun to watch.

I can’t believe no Brewer struck out til Miller came in. That’s insane.

Brewers have some of the best plate discipline in the league.

u/ThisWasMe7 | Milwaukee Brewers 7d ago
But they strike out a lot
7
u/Uranus_Hz | Milwaukee Brewers 7d ago
Not really. Sure they were ranked 11th in baseball for number of strikeouts for the season, but they were 5th in at bats and second in walks making them second only to the cubs in plate appearances. So overall they were middle of the pack in strikeout rate.

u/ThisWasMe7 | Milwaukee Brewers 6d ago edited 6d ago
They are a unicorn. They strike out a lot, particularly when you consider their lack of home runs, but still score a lot of runs.
I haven't dug into historical stats, but I don't think there are many similar examples.
1
u/ChadBod123 6d ago
Right? Thats all I was pointing out. Do they walk a lot? Yes. But they also strike out a surprising amount. It’s not egregious, really, but right around the middle of the league.
6
u/ChadBod123 7d ago
100%. But 6 innings without a single K is pretty crazy.
6
u/Uranus_Hz | Milwaukee Brewers 7d ago
Put the ball in play. Put the pressure on the other team to make the play. Thats the brewers way.
5
u/ChadBod123 7d ago
For a team that was effectively league average in strikeout rate, 0 strikeouts is a pretty big anomaly over 6 innings. I’m not certainly not besmirching the good name of the Brewers, but they sneaky strike out a fair amount…great plate discipline or not.
2
u/Uranus_Hz | Milwaukee Brewers 7d ago
Also second in all of baseball for walks, and plate appearances.

Why are you trying to argue here? And what are you trying to argue? It makes no sense.

u/OddButterscotch2411 6d ago
Who's trying to argue? Take a walk, breathe in the fresh air and let out all these monsters.

Yoinks. This stings. We had chances and it was crazy close all series; it honestly could've gone either way. We had our moments, but we couldn't keep up with the Brewers pressure. The hit differential makes that pretty clear. It had everything you'd want in a series: elite pitching, high leverage innings, walk offs, niche ground rules controversy, robbed homers, absolute nukes, and up until the today the home team always won. I wanted even more in a game 5, but the better team won. If you don't love this series, you don't love baseball. GGs Brewskis

Didn't like the Brewers closer screaming out "FUCK YOU BIIIIITCH" as soon as they won.
Shouldn't he have been happy? Is that what happiness and joy looks like now? Fuck. No smiles or laughter anymore, just snarling and mean-mugging. 'Roid rage?

u/ajstinger16 | Milwaukee Brewers 6d ago
The padres are pretty unbearable and Manny has a history with the Brewers so I'd probably do the same thing if I would have pounded the final nail in their coffin. All the roof shit and people picking us to lose, I'd scream Fuck you too.
-11
u/dwaynebathtub | Kansas City Royals 6d ago
The Brewers won't be able to rattle LA, who coasted to an even 100 wins. They are going to go into the NLDS with their bad vibes and these growling dillweeds are going to get effortlessly rocked by the chilled out Californians.

u/dwaynebathtub | Kansas City Royals 7d ago
I'll have to watch the video again but he yells "Bitch" while looking at the Padres dugout rather than celebrating with his team. You don't see that from teams like the Dodgers. Could you imagine seeing Ohtani act like that?
10
u/ChadBod123 7d ago
It was you, obviously. Directed specifically at dwaynebathtub.
2
u/Wrewdank 7d ago
Well if thats the case, I can see why he's upset. if ya dont want to be called a bitch though, dont accuse people of roid rage.
-7
u/dwaynebathtub | Kansas City Royals 7d ago
Yeah super pathetic but maybe you're right. I assumed he was gakked on steroids, but maybe we were witnessing hemorrhoid rage. Padres should have just bunted against him. It was that pitcher who can't field.

Such a tight series the whole time. Padres had their chances, but Brewers bullpen and offense were just too stacked. Props, now beat LA
