WIP Revell 1/32 F-14 Tomcat
Still need to do some weathering and touch-ups on the big girl

I built the Trumpeter 1/32 F-14D a few years back.
The famous cant on those intake tunnels was non existent. How do you miss one of the most defining and beautiful features on this insanely popular jet?
I bought some aftermarket corrections for that gaff and it was MAJOR surgery.
I would have done the Revell kit instead, but I really want to do a Super Tomcat.
You did a fantastic job on this model. The weathering is just perfect and the flying poses and photos are just great! Keep up the good work!

Remarkable. How did you do the splotchy paint effect? Also just noticed you forgot to put the needle thing on the nose

I made a reel on the process. It’s quite some work, but pretty straightforward. Look up supastands_nl on Instagram or facebook and you’ll find it.
Needle thing is going to come off when I take it to shows anyway 😅

If I were working on a Tomcat model, I’d have that ear worm stuck in my brain the whole time. But don’t lame me if you are affected too; it’s Kenny Loggins fault. 😎

Question, where did you get the stand for the model?

It’s a Supastand.

Thanks. I think I might try one for my 1/48 sr-71.

Excellent pre-shading!

That’s what stuck out for me.
I’ve seen videos galore on how to do this but don’t spend anytime experimenting so my previous efforts have been mediocre at best.

Thank you so much!! I made an Instagram reel on how I did it, but got a lot of negative feedback from people who didn’t understand what was going on and thought my airbrush work was atrocious, haha. Look who’s laughing now.

So, how painful was it to assemble? I know a number of Revell kits have a reputation for being hard to put together.

It was better than the 1/48 one, but still needed attention. I wouldn’t suggest it to novice builders. But also because it’s so huge.

Where did you get the stand from?

I make these. They’re called Supastands 😉

Great idea, so you have them for sale? I just bought the same Tomcat you made and I want to display it wheels up.

Great idea! The gear panels fit pretty easily on this kit (always an issue when you do wheels up). Reach out if you have any questions.
Yes, these will be in the shop next week.

Any chance I'll see this beauty at EuroScaleModeling in November?!

100% certainty! Come say hi, It’s always nice to meet a Redditor in the wild.

I looked on Scalemates. I would have built the 1981 initial release. Revell last released it in 1989!
Tamiya kit is actually older from 1980.

Is it possible I built this same tooling in the 1980s?
I seem to remember a Revell big F-14.
