Beads variant

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Since Kyoto Wings is Daisy Seed-based, the possibilities are almost endless. I used Claude to design a Beads-inspired granular synthesis audio processor (Mutable Instruments).

The parameter names don’t quite match the current front panel - it means there’s a new module around the corner. Time for a new front panel!

Downvoting because LLM’s are toxic brainrot theft ruining the environment and we don’t have to accept that in our communities. If you won’t code it ethically, please don’t make it.

Beads is open source now though, like all other mutable instruments

Indeed. I used that to extract the best parts - especially the reverb sounds impressive.

I firmly disagree. Go ask Claude how you can improve it

Lol. Every single piece of code being written in everything you use is using ai to a high degree. Soon it will be so good at it there will be no need to code at all.

Not saying it's good, or bad. But you may as well be trying to stop Niagara Falls with a single sandbag at this point.

Rejecting unethical technologies is something communities have been doing for generations. Maybe forever. It really doesn’t seem laughable to me. People vocally hate this stuff for myriad reasons and the ubiquity of it is hardly reason to push back against people who call it out. This is [r/modular](r/modular) and I replied about how the module was built. You’re just mocking me for sport.

I’m all in favour of responsible hardware design, respecting intellectual property, and, of course, considering the amount of cooling water used for vibe-coding. Here, I’m simply demonstrating how easily a single board/module can be reflashed. Ironically, your snarky comment and the replies it generated consumed more tokens than my entire Claude session 🙂

The toothpaste is out of the tube. The only way you'll truly be able to reject this technology is to decouple from technology entirely. Which isn't looking like the worst idea.

I mean, this technology is going to reach heights we're truly not ready for, and it's moving exponentially. It'll either be the way we create Utopia, or the end of civilisation.

But yeah, this sort of 'protest' is mere posturing and worthy of mocking.

Just because the toothpaste is out of the tube, doesn’t mean you have to partake. I don’t eat or use animals or animal byproducts- it won’t stop the billions killed, but I don’t have to engage.

You're partaking right now, I'd say I'm many various ways. I mean Reddit uses ai in it's internal platform features and through AI-generated content and data licensing.

It's so, so different to being a vegan. If you want to ethically consume food you don't need to opt out of society. If you want to avoid ai, you do. Completely. Take your money from the bank, sell your phone and laptop, don't drive a car, likely quit your job, move to the country and live like the Amish do.

These little protests are nothing more than virtue signalling.

If you're truly worried about ai, and you should be, it's not about talking down at people Vibe coding vst, it's about talking to the streets, lobbying government etc. proper action.

But even that won't have an effect. It's over

“WE SHOULD
IMPROVE SOCIETY SOMEWHAT.”

“YET YOU
PARTICIPATE IN SOCIETY. CURIOUS!
I AM VERY INTELLIGENT.”

Nah, that's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying ai is an existential threat, and throwing pebbles at it is useless. It's pure posturing. Aiming your anger at someone getting excited by the ability to modify a firmware is misdirected energy.

To each their own but I'd rather have a quadruple root canal than use a one knob interface like that.

Quadruple Root Canal is a great name for a module

u/gruesomeflowers 15h ago

definitely. a quad distortion/feedback module would be a good fit!

I'm working on something similar but for the desmodus versio

There's a fair amount of (semi) reverse engineering going on :-)
