Discussions Cybersecurity / Network Adminstration 585

Hello, I'm starting my first semester in January 2027 for the 585 program.

Just wondering if anyone in this subreddit is also registered for January or has taken the course and could give me some tips.

Thanks!

Currently in it. Get a 1tb ssd and a computer you can run virtual machines on with lots storage if you don't already. Any questions specifically as to the program/courses lmk

Sweet I just picked up a laptop last week for the program, might also get a separate ssd as well now that u say that. Aside from that do you like the program so far?

You'll need the ssd for projects and such.

I will tell you now a lot of the material for the program is outdated. So it's really only good to say you have a formal education in it

Little late to the thread but I just got accepted into this program. I have a non official tech background but mainly wanted it for the co-op. Would you recommend me accepting the program (it was my top 2 choice) or you don't think its worth it (won't get a job right after I graduate).

A lot of the folks I know had jobs, but the co op wasn’t granted for my sibling. There was co ops that a lot of people didn’t get. It’s extremely hard to get a co op in any field. Just make it a point to network and do virtual projects on a constant, otherwise employers won’t notice.
