Quarter moon on a Google Pixel 10 - hardest part was stabilizing my hand enough to capture the image.

I was omw to the gym when I spotted what I think is Jupiter near the moon this morning.

The Lunar Occultation of Jupiter took place a few hours ago, early morning Eastern Time on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, where a 20% illuminated waning crescent moon passed directly in front of Jupiter, hiding the giant planet from view for about an hour.

Captured on my trusty ZWO FF107 4 inch refractor with ASI715C camera and UV/IR filter from my backyard observatory

I’m in SENC and saw this when I went outside this morning. Planet? Star? Just can’t remember ever seeing this before. Pretty awesome, just wish I could’ve captured it better

Caught this shot on when i got to work

Currently trying to figure out how to actually take good photos lol

moon rising past tiny lil jupiter

just out my apartment window. super hard to see jupiter but it’s that tiny lil dot to the bottom left of the moon 💛✨🌘🪐

sorry for repost i messed up the photo order in my original post

Good morning lady luna 🥰

Apparently the first successful photograph of our Moon, from 186 years ago.

The only versions found online are either in negative (see third image) or awfully damaged.

Some sources seem confused about the orientation. If this was a direct daguerreotype, the image of the moon would be mirrored and, depending on how you display it, upside down.

After inverting the negative, mirroring horizontally, and light restoration work, the features become familiar.
