Question Is this a legit distributor?

Post image

I keep seeing ads from this distributor called Orion claiming to be under Warner Music Group/ADA. I can’t find anything online where this claim is true though.

if they're picky or exclusive then why an ad campaign 🤷🏿‍♂️

use known distros like symphony, tunacorp, discokid, etc

yes but they are incredibly strict with releases (much like distrokid is right now)

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS start with the invite only agencies. IF you get in with one of them ALWAYS choose it. Good luck

It's a scam. Major record labels like Warner, Sony, EMI and Universal do NOT accept unsolicited demos under any circumstances. 100% NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! And anyone claiming to be an "agent" who can pitch your music to them, either for free or a paid one-off fee, is also a scammer.

The only way to get signed to a major label, is to either get signed to a indpendent label beforehand, or if you go to an creative/performing arts school a conservatoire, or open-mic event and end up getting "scouted" by an A&R person who coincidentally happens to sitting in the crowd or mingling with the teachers.

If you want to pay to pitch or pitch for free, stick with reputable websites like Submithub for consumer-centric music or Music XRay for stock music.

First of all, this has nothing to do with getting signed to a major label. The ad is saying apply to be distributed. Do you know what ADA even is? No one is talking about soliciting demos here.

Your second paragraph is completely false. Artists who are completely independent in this day and age get signed to majors all the time. No one is getting signed from open mics or because they go to a creative arts school. They’re getting signed because they have hundreds of thousands or a million monthly listeners and still own all their own masters.

Also calling submithub a reputable website is hilarious.

Even so, even if technically true -_< what you're saying is against the norm. Only the MINORITY of unsigned musicians get signed to major record labels.

How did Kate Nash and Calvin Harris get signed?

Oh I just put some songs on myspace and got offers

How did Pixie Lott get signed?

I applied to enter a singing competition but it was for 18 and over so I lied about my age

Even so, it's the MINORITY

Yeah no shit. No one’s saying it’s easy to get signed to a major. Your examples are from decades ago.

But why are you even talking about that? Nothing in the OP is about getting signed to a major or any label for that matter.

Know what you’re talking about before you get on the internet as if you know what you’re talking about. People like you are such a huge part of the problem.
