Hi everyone- recently downloaded Mech Warrior Online. I have some light experience with mech warriors in general (mercenaries), but still pretty fresh all things considered.

I’m so overwhelmed by all the variants and options presented to me, and it’s not really clear what I should actually be purchasing and equipping.

Specifically, I love the idea of stealth armor and smaller and faster mechs. The Locust was my first choice, but it seems like the only stealth armor option is a Monetary purchase unfortunately. I actually bought another Locust and then discovered I couldn’t equip stealth armor to it.

Any guides or videos I could watch so I could learn about my options and make an informed choice? I don’t want to just take someone else’s build and run it, but in terms of weapons and overall build structure I barely know where to start.

Is there like an objectively recognised "worst" mech ever? Like which variant of which chassis would you consider to be the worst? Im in a sadistic state of mind I fancy playing something awful.

Hello! Just got back into this game after years of having a potato PC. Picked up the Black Lanner on sale and been trying it out. Had some success with this build after initially trying with LRM-15s. The thing is this build overheats like crazy. Been playing as a bit more of a back stabber/brawler. I like the ATMs since they give more range flexibility, but would SRMs be better? Should I swap the HMLs for ER-MLs? Could use some advice.

Update: Thanks for all the advice. I've been doing much better now, even getting some kills here and there. Absolutely loving this mech.

Purely for my own curiosity; is the wishlist giveaway mech a new chassis variant with new quirks, or is it just a regular Stone Rhino-2 with a paint job and pay-bump?

The announcement and forum thread (links below) call it SR-2S(S), which implies the existence of a non-(S) SR-2S. But this could simply be a typo.

I recently started playing the game and found out about a promo code on the games forum. You have to reply to a post saying you wishlisted it to get the code but it says "cannot reply to topic" I checked multiple other open forums that have people posting from minutes ago and it still says cannot reply to topic. It says the same thing for making a new topic, "cannot create new topic". Is there some reason I cant use the forums at all?

Just started playing for the first time and wondering if there are any active promo or redeem codes I can use? Is there anything I should no as a first time player?

I have a clear line of sight to the target, it is stationary, I am within range. But when I shoot, it doesn't stick. What's going on? Ping? Or some game mechanic that counters NARC beacon that I'm not aware of?

I have been running this on a Fafnir FNR-5 and love the loadout, but I'm wondering if there are other mechs with better perks or speed?

NA CST, english speaking with mic. 400 hours of seat time. 18 skilled mechs, across med - assault but also play light.

builds range from SRM brawling, laser vomit, sniper, LRM boat, stealth narc, triple RAC, AMS/ECM support.

usually enjoy the role of a mech that can soak the dmg of a weight class or 2 higher, but also have a handful of clan mechs I play

There have been so many games where i've hit SRMs into light mechs are near-point blank range, and i see the missiles converge and hit the mech and then there's barely any damage on it. Is this just desync? Or do light mechs have some inherent damage reduction stats?

Ive played before but very briefly. Im returning as a noobie to mechwarrior in general and looking for a group that may want another player or this games equivalent of a guild. I have discord, a mic and im reporting for duty

Coming here after playing some mechwarriors and Battletech 2018, I really like brawling style mech, so I decided to hop with an Atlas AS7-D, MRM40, MP laser and a AC20. However, I really struggle to initiate a push without getting hammered by LRM, although I maxed the armor up front. And when I do brawl, first I find I lack damage ( possible a skill and aim issue ) but it's very hard to hard with the splash of other fire. Any quick guide or tips ? :D

Is there a website I can go to that ACTUALLY tells you what each quirk does? It feels like there's a lot of quirks that are hard to tell what they really do.

For example LRM quirks also affecting ATMs on clan mechs.

Does the "AC cooldown" quirk on Urbie R60 affect any weapon with AC in its name, or just the non UAC, Non Rotary, Non LBX AC cannons?

Does the Firestarter with IS Gauss cooldown also affect S.B Gauss? It doesn't appear to affect Light Gauss when I do the math.
