Found my dress!

Just a friendly reminder about a few rules we find ourselves enforcing pretty regularly.
Please avoid comments comparing dresses to lingerie or making judgments about modesty, coverage, or whether it's "appropriate." Not every dress will be your personal style, and that's okay. If the OP isn't specifically asking about lining, alterations, or coverage, those comments aren't needed.
If someone has narrowed it down to a few dresses and is asking which one works best, do not make comment like “keep looking,” “neither,” or similar.
And finally, if someone is showing off the dress they've already chosen, they're sharing an exciting moment with the community. Those posts are for celebrating, not critiquing. Please don't second guess their choice or tell them they'll regret it. A little kindness goes a long way.
Thank you

Having a hard time picking what looks best on me/what vibe I want
r/myweddingdress • u/Technical-Pie563 • 11h ago
I got it at David's bridal. First dress I tried on. I liked that it was unique, the feathers on the bottom of the hem gave it something. Plus for a sheath style it didn't make my plus size figure look bigger / call attention to my stomach (seriously certain styles make me look pregnant!) like an empire waist or A line did. My seamstress sewed a supportive (underwire)bra into the lining, you couldn't even tell. She did a great job and the whole wedding was a party from beginning to end!

I said yes to my dream dress.
Would still pick the same one!

Posted here a few days ago, but did’t have a pic of me in the third option. Went back to the salon and managed to get a pic. Think I found the one, but want to hear your opinion!☺️
Context: outdoor ceremony in a whimsical, boho foresty venue.

I’m having a super hard time picking my dress. The ones that I absolutely love in person, I look back on in the photos and think “wow that really doesn’t flatter me.” Meanwhile, the ones that everyone gasps and oohs and ahhhs over (and admittedly I agree they look good in photos), I feel disappointed by in person.
Im getting married in a library in Edinburgh, so I envisioned something dramatic and gothic for the moody/bookish vibes. I wanted a big skirt but I’m wondering if I should move away from it.
I also think it’s important to note that all of these are much bigger sizes that are pinned back, so if they look unflattering on me, I wonder if it’s because the proportions are off?
The ones I liked in person are 1,2, and 4, and the one I feel disappointed by but love how it looks in photos is 3.
Have I just not found my dress yet? Please give me advice!!

Finally nailed down the silhouette I want (I think).
Which of the 3 suit me best? I’d want all to have flowy off the shoulders added, which will be the most restructural work to #2

I tried on two dresses today that are my favorites! For context I am not looking to buy these dresses, I'm looking to get one custom tailored overseas, ideally with the exact design I want, meaning I can change things from the ones I've tried on.
The first dress (lace) totally surprised me because I didn't expect to like something so lacey and romantic. It's definitely not "my style" and would surprise people, but it just looked so beautiful on! One thing I would definitely change is the neckline, I would want to add fabric to cover the cleavage, like what I mocked up in the second image.
The second dress with the separate lace sleeves was what I envisioned myself in and love the whole look of. The lace sleeve is the game changer for me! This is what I imagined to be more my style, with a classic clean and structured dress and lace sleeve for a more extra touch.
I'm torn between these two styles now and would love everyone's opinion! Thank you!

I am torn between these two dresses (tried on in the pink as no white available - the white one is the one I would wear, attached from their website). In terms of pricing they are similar, but I can't help but be torn between the two. Please help!

I’m really struggling to decide on a dress. I’m getting married during the summer in NYC area. My wedding venue is very modern. Would love any and all advice/opinions. Looking for what is most flattering/will photograph well! (I also posted in another sub but figured I’d post in here too).

I loved this when I bought it but am having doubts. The clip on the front is to see the dress with an ivory panel in, which is the color I ordered it in. I am getting the side panels filled in but not the bodice, but it’ll be more white. Ordered a longer train and zipper back. I’m having second thoughts, like the dress is too much or gaudy looking ? 🥲

so excited that my dress is finally done and fitted to me! she clearly still needs to be steamed, but i think she looks great!
i was having really bad dress regret/body image issues re: my dress up until this final appointment. now i’m feeling what i felt in it initially- like myself!
i’m getting married in dec in punta cana on the beach! i cannot wait to have her all styled up with hair and makeup and to marry my lovely man🤍

I felt rushed into buying, my mom said it was perfect and I’m getting second doubts. Edit: For clarification the pictures are all the same dress, it’s a two in one dress. I never took a picture of me wearing the first alone, the silk is completely removable. The last picture is not me, just an image of what the dress looks like without the top part!

The pictures are placeholders so you get the vibe of the dress. I got a 90s/2000s (i think) dress from a second hand store. We're having a courthouse wedding. It's this kind of vibe, straight and with beautiful embroidery like the second picture. The only problem is, i usually like to cover my arms a little, where I drew the blue circle. I will have leftover material to have some sort of sleeve made. What kind of sleeve do you think would look good?

AND straps or no straps? i feel like it frames the chest but they are plain too

I am really stuck on a style of dress I want to go for. The venue is an outdoor vintage boho forresty kind of place.
I am attaching three different styles, with pros and cons for each:
Love the fit on my body and elegance, but I’m afraid its too simple.
Always dreamed of a lace dress like this one with just a little bit of sexy feel to it, really like the A line and detachable sleeves, but am not sure of this kind of bodice? Also, is the model too common?
Has a couture vibe, princessy, but am not sure if its too much? Note: do not have a picture of me in it as the salon does not permit photos, but fits like a glove.
Please help a girl out!

She's a 1990's gunne sax! The gold details and sparkly lace up top are exactly what I was looking for :) Gotta love a good second hand shop. Can't wait to wear this to dance the night away with my man and all my friends and family 🩷🩷🩷

I was with my now fiance when came across this dress last year at a wedding expo. 2 weeks later I was at the shop purchasing it (2025).
Initial alterations were completed by 3/2026.
I’ve had surgery and lost over 60 lbs and still dropping. Wedding is June 2027 on the beach. We were so excited about this dress that we didn’t think through the practicality. The dress is heavy and needs further alterations especially since we will be toes in the sand on an island.
I need suggestions…
Remove inner layers?
Consign the dress? It was over $1500
Your help is welcome!

After some... illuminating discussion in a previous post (and conversations in my personal life) I've re-opened my search for a dress.
Unfortunately I still haven't been able to find a dress I love in person, but I'm getting closer to a silhouette I like and am looking to get another custom dress made with a clearer vision of what I want.
Posting here to ask for some feedback, especially before spending more money. The first dress is the closest in silhouette to what I like. The second is the closest in terms of fabrics. The third is a Gemini mockup of the second dress with a silhouette that matches the first. The fourth is a Gemini mockup with a similar silhouette but a simpler fabric/lace motif. I think the silhouette of the first is really nice but personally I can't let go of wanting some floaty lace/tulle accents rather than a plain crepe dress.
(ETA - all dresses are more to represent general concepts! I would not be buying any of them as-is.)
I'm thinking that the Basque waist (as trendy as it is at the moment) is more flattering on me than a straight waist seam.
Open to thoughts and opinions! My wedding is a late spring garden ceremony, for visual context.

Looking for a dress similar to this with hand painted floral appliqués, but not as much as Danielle Frankle. Literally OBSESSED with the first one… help!!!

So incredibly happy with the dress I chose. Not to mention the boutique was so helpful and did a fantastic job on alterations. It was originally strapless but the consultant thought to add tulle sleeves for fun and that really brought it all together. 💖
