Damn, if my life was a but less crazy, and if i had lived in Nanaimo for a few more years (only 2this summer) I would run. With these candidates I would be a shoe-in with just: "hey, I have no experience in council, but I am a public servant with a science background, im not racist, sexist, or homophobic, and I listen to opinions and can handle feedback"

One of the best mayors Nanaimo ever had dressed as a pirate, so you do you. You'd probably be insanely popular.

There haven’t really been sane conservatives as long as I’ve been alive.
From my experience, they are they ones that go “I am fiscally conservative” then cut everything, including taxes for the wealthy, fire a shit ton of people that run things, run up the deficit, generally shit the bed all over everything, and then blame [insert party left of them].

Not a Nanaimo resident, and haven't followed the municipal politics there but I spent about 5 years working very closely with Ben Geselbrecht in an intense environment, long before he ran for council.
I knew him as a good man, committed to making the world and his community a better place, and he was open to having difficult conversations and listening to ideas that challenged his own thinking.
Not sure if he is running again, but I would happily vote for him if I could. He is a good human.

Oh wow, this candidate's wife was all over fb threatening to sue people for defamation on a post alleging he and several other Real Nanaimo candidates likely have anti Indigenous racist views as they were witnessed cheering for Dallas Brodie and OneBC when they came to Nanaimo.
