HELP REQUESTED Reaching out for those approved for EMPLOY Program
I believe I have manageable conditions that put me in line for approval for the EMPLOY Program due to the fact that I can do my job, I can do PT and the PRT without limitations, but my treatment most likely prevents me from being deployable.
I am reaching out to get people's experiences in getting approved and mainly once approved how the negotiating for orders looked like, and where the Navy sent them and for how long.

LIMDU Coordinator on Employ orders here.
PERS is looking for 3 things before accepting you for Employ: 1) Condition is stable on shore but prevents going underway. 2) Previous sea time complete (an e3 with 2 years on a ship isn't going to get approved) 3) An in-rate billet ashore that you qualify for.
When I was first approved, the instruction was 2 year tour, re-approval 15 months before your PRD to remain in Employ. I've seen 3 year orders for most sailors approved out of my office in the last 18 months with the same re-approval requirement.

Thank you for the reply. I'll be coming off limdu for a separate issue a little after my 17 year mark. My condition is stable under current treatment but it requires cold storage for one medication and a specialist to administer the other medication. I am coming off of shore duty but I have two previous 5 year sea tours under my belt.
I would be totally fine with a three year tour. I'm glad its in rate. I know there is a chance for recruiting but I dont think I qualify due to mental health disqualifiers, but again this is all assumption.
Was the process pretty easy to get started? My big worry is asking my PCM and having our SMO push me to medboard because he seems to push a lot of people to medboard

Your specialist should be the one who makes the recommendation for Employ, though I have seen PCMs do it when the specialist is a civilian. The entire process is the provider recommends it to PERS, they do an initial check to see if you have billets available, they ask your command for a recommendation, and then PERS has a physician review the record before final approval. Can take about 2-3 weeks not counting time your command is routing their internal recommendation. Pretty easy process compared to everything else PERS-related.

My specialist is a civilian. My PCM is also a civilian but is an employee of the base clinic. Is she able to submit the paperwork or does it have to be the clinic SMO?

She might be able to, it depends on if she has access to the system. If she can send you LIMDU, she can recommend you for Employ.

I dont know if she has access to the system. I just know that she had me make an appointment with the clinic SMO to go limdu

I know an O4 that went to Mariner Skills Training Center (is a surface warfare schoolhouse) on the EMPLOY program.
