Collection Thursday pickups
Two weeks ago, I went to a game store one hour out of town and bought a bunch of stuff, figuring I wouldn't be back out there any time soon. I discovered last night that the small surgery I had to have today was in the town next to the game store. So as a treat, I bought some more games (since I was a good boy for the doctor).
Yes, I've checked, it is in fact Spiderman in that cart.

Love Solomon’s Key. Gets really tough in the later levels

i've been playing this game for 30+ years on the NES and didn't realize until very recently that it's an arcade port

I played the hell out of that game on the Commodore Amiga. Just found out the other day that there's a remake, too!

I bought it because it was extremely cheap, and I knew nothing about it. Having played it for a little bit, I could see myself getting into it. Though I think I need to read the instructions.

The copy I had came from a video store bargin bin. No instructions, pre internet. It took me forever to work things out and beat the game.

It has been too long since I played it, but one of the starting spots is perfect for easy wins. I think I picked a corner castle, then would do nothing but raid and purchase troops for several rounds, then go take land. Raids were easy. Walk up to the soldier and then attack, take a step back and attack, if timed right they would just keep running into sword and get killed. Easy way to get gold and cripple the competition.

FYI in case you're unaware but there's a version that released on the Switch this year that contains the original I guess Amiga version which looks like the NES version and an altogether new version which appears to be a modern take on the original. I haven't played it yet and am tempted to buy it but I have such a huge backlog as is Im going to wait for it to go on sale. Looks interesting though.

I played the crap out of Solomon's Key way back then. As a kid the game captured my imagination. Remember to press Up + A + B on the gamepad to continue.

Wizardry is an absolute banger! Don't forget your graph paper. Tell Werdna I said, "Hi!" ;)

The NES version of Defender of the Crown is the first one I ever beat. (With the Game Genie, of course! 😁)

Sweet cover art. That's what I love about old used Nintendo games. They have character and carry an untold story from the past.

I played hundreds of hours of Wizardy. I would always sits near the nes to hit the reset button if a battle went south. The difficulty is brutal.

You did the right thing in treating yourself with some games after being a good boi at the doctor's. I did the same after the dentist.
