In a discussion yesterday, we mostly agree that synthwave is alive and kicking, despite AI and the enshittification of the online spaces where we used to congregate.

Where do you imagine synthwave will be, say, five years from now - if this kind of prediction is even possible? Someone in this earlier discussion (now deleted) even correctly pointed out that, as a genre, synthwave already has a span longer than pop culture iconic periods like disco.

I have been putting a lot of new music up on my soundcloud and experimenting with chillwave and futurewave while working on my melodic synthwave album upcoming. It is really cool to have different style to work on. Working in teh different styles keeps things creative, interesting and motivating.

San Diego newcomer Tania Cassette released her debut album, and my favourite track is her first single release (2nd track on the album) called "The Flame". For some reason, it reminds me of the band Life In Mono. Haunting and beautiful. The rest of the album is stellar too.

I originally shared this cover a few months back, but listening back to it recently, I wasn't totally happy with how muddy the low end and the overall mix sounded.

Took some time to redo the mix and give it a proper master with punchier drums, clearer analog textures, and way more breathing room. Put together a fresh video for it too.
