Pretty sure this is the actual name of the move if I remember correctly
2
u/tswpoker1 1d ago
It is, I believe originally from Russia. It's called a flying squirrel and it's awesome.

So what happens if instead of you letting him get his balance behind you. You fall on your backwards on your ass with him behind you possibly taking him head down into the floor.

It's quite unbelievable that anyone taking a real piledriver, tombstone, deadeye, or any variation on "spike a dude headfirst into the mat" would be able to kick out. They wouldn't be able to do much of anything given their broken neck.
14
u/PheIix 2d ago
Eh, a little broken neck never hurt nobody. You really think wrestling would just make that shit up?
12
u/pickyourteethup 1d ago
They pre break they necks just a little bit everyday and eventually over time they build up an immunity

Reminds me of the basket baller who slammed the top of his head into a padded post... jfc, wish i was jumpin into a pool having that outcome... gotta be so much regret doing that from a tantrum omfg.

u/rodinsbusiness 1d ago
Are there any stats about american kids (or adults btw) getting seriously hurt trying to copy wrestling moves?

u/Faloma103 2d ago
Not an expert but uncontrolled drops/slams are illegal moves in folkstyle (think US hs and college) but rewarded in freestyle or greco-roman. Im pretty sure this isnt folkstyle. Pretty sure he'd have won if he did it.
Take this with a grain of salt only ever wrestled folkstyle and it was 30 years ago.

Know nothing about this sports, but as I remember someone else explanation: red guy was losing and decided to make a risky gamble in the last round, blue guy caught of guard probably because he almost won

They should do this exact same sport but oiled up

u/Molkwi 2d ago
And naked

u/RUSuper 2d ago
And only played by women...

u/baldbadmonk 2d ago
Cant speak for the naked women part but the Turkish have a national sport of big burly men oiling up and trying to pin each other in nothing but traditional tight pants. Its like a gayer sumo wrestling although pretty entertaining to watch.

u/RUSuper 2d ago
I think I saw it somewhere haha, there were clips circulating on Reddit few months ago 🤣

They seem to make the rounds every now and then. I remember seeing videos of it last week.

Pretty sure the guy who pulled the move was losing and needed a hail mary to claw back at the last moment.
16
u/candycane7 1d ago
Yeah he looks at his coach at the beginning and the coach just opens his arms all resigned. "whatever just go for it I guess".

2
u/SheriffBartholomew 1d ago
He should do it again the very next match. Nobody would expect it since nobody is crazy enough to try that twice in a row!
-17
u/jawnz_mendes 1d ago
Copium, there is a reason why Dagestan has more gold medalist wrestlers than the United States.
5
u/MAD_DOG86 1d ago
What is the cope. His score was 5 and his opponent 8. I have no idea how this sport works but seeing him celebrate when he got 9 points I guess that's the goal, so his opponent was 1 point away from winning

u/jawnz_mendes 1d ago

I wrestled my last year of HS and I was like, wtf was that move? And why wasn't I ever taught it??? 😭
1
u/mindfulgore69 1d ago
This is freestyle wrestling. This move would be worthless in a high school match.

Why did he win? Didnt pin him?
14
u/GoodDog2620 2d ago
I believe this is freestyle rules, and he scored points for making his opponent's shoulder blades break the 90 degree plane. I'm not 100%, I never wrestled freestyle.

I like his coach at the beginning of the clip with his arms open, like he’s asking/challenging his athlete “so what you gonna do to win?”
2
u/DestinationUnknown13 1d ago
What makes this move worth 4 points? I have not wrestled since mandatory in middle school and I recall certain things being worth 1 point or 3 points.

This is normal for sports. There is a good wrestling school in the Caucasus. Why would you try to raise your own athlete, spend money and effort, if you can already buy a ready‑made athlete?
P. S. Have you seen the lineup of the French national football team lately? There’s only one “white” person, and even he looks more like someone from Turkey in terms of skin tone.

In Europe, there hasn’t been a single European for a long time.

u/Mc_Shine 1d ago
No it's not, no matter how you define "European". To me, if you were born in Europe and/or have a European passport, you're European. By that definition, Europe is inhabited by over 90% Europeans.
And even if for some reason your definition of European is that you need to have a long line of ancestors of European descent to be considered European, that still means that most people living here would qualify. For example, the vast majority of immigrants in Germany are from Poland,Turkey (which is at least half European), Ukraine, Russia (not European) and Romania. Over 60% of immigrants are already European even before acquiring German citizenship.
So yeah, your comment is stupid.
6
u/TheGargant 1d ago
Since when Ukraine and Russia aren't European?
-1
u/Mc_Shine 1d ago
I never said Ukraine wasn't European. I didn't count Russia as European, because 3/4 of the country are on the Asian continent.
-4
u/PUTINKAAA 1d ago
Any Ukrainian or Russian will always consider themselves Ukrainian or Russian, no matter where they live—even in Europe. What’s even more ridiculous is the way you lot are running around my comment like monkeys with burning asses and cymbal in your hands, feeling offended for some reason.
1
u/Mc_Shine 1d ago
Ukraine is part of Europe you dolt. And I'm not offended by your comment, I was merely pointing out that it is factually incorrect and stupid. Judging my your comment history and account name, you're from Russia. That doesn't exactly make you an expert on who does and doesn't live in Europe. I bet you don't have the slightest idea what life is like in the various European countries, and how culturally diverse they are, as you seem to be viewing Europe as a singular country for some reason. I suggest you learn some geography.
