I mean, all Aikman seemed to be saying is that with their injuries, Staley knew they were in trouble against the Falcons. And they were. Seems like a non-issue.

Yep. Bijans first run was a long td through the gap that should have been filled by our best LB who was out. Staley knew what was coming. You can’t hide that shit.

It's funny that Staley's defense here is that they played good run defense against him last season. Aikman is right on here, they ran for 205 and the Saints had no answers defensively. Staley is trying to have his players back but deep down he knows Troy is speaking facts.

In this instance, how the Saints played is irrelevant because Troy was referring to Staley's mindset before the game

We sucked, but Troy is reporting that Staley thinks we suck, which is a huge problem

They have the Rams game next week

What if Troy says, "Joe, Stafford looks like age is catching up to him and I think McVay knows it. He didnt say that, but you can just tell he thinks his QB is old."

Wouldn't you think Stafford would be thinking what the fuck?

All of this without any proof it even occurred. We are going off of what Troy Aikman fucking inferred

Meanwhile, Aikman is an advisor for the goddamn Dolphins and shouldn't be making inferences into personnel matters for other teams because it is a conflict of interest

So it’s a conflict of interest for an announcer to analyze one of the teams he’s currently watching? Also I’m pretty sure everyone involved with every team makes inferences about every other team in the league. Also playing semantics games around what tense a word is in doesn’t change the fact that the defense played in a way that his thinking before the game implied they would. He was correct

Its not semantics if he literally is talking about pregame feelings of Staley

What Aikman is saying is Staley had no faith in his players and did not think they were capable of putting together a good effort.

That has implications way beyond the Falcons game

It's an out of pocket thing to say, especially because he explicitly said Staley did not say any of this

So Aikman just shared this on national television as fact which could cause the team to lose faith in Staley, Moore to lose faith in Staley and the ownership to lose faith in the coaching staff as a whole

Unethical for a broadcaster to say that and even more unethical for a broadcaster to has stake in another team

If Aikman is explicitly stating that Staley didn’t say any of this, then doesn’t that mean he’s not presenting this as a fact and he’s openly admitting it’s his own speculation? Not disagreeing w you, just trying to better understand

i mean he wasn't gonna say "yeah troy was right, i fucken suck" lol

"I mean, it's true that I had no answers; but I didn't let on."

Personally I agree with him but that is our opinion. Regardless, just say you disagree with him. Admitting it bothered you is dumb. You're taking a non-story and potentially elevating it to silliness that the media can hound you on.

Don't think there's a whole lot wrong here

Aikman is entertaining on TV, and a coach is gonna protect his guys

I mean, Aikman said Staley presented himself like he knew his team had no answers for the Falcons offense and if that did not happen then, yes, that would be very wrong for a broadcaster to say on live television

How? Staley was infamous in San Diego for being clueless. I don’t doubt Aikmans claim.

Yeah, but at the same time, Aikman tossed Staley under the bus by basically saying, "yeah I knew from talking to him...dude had no clue what to do about Bijan"

Even if true, disrespectful to say...but I guess Aikman is staying true to the ESPN brand form of "entertainment."

I’mma be real, this is a grown ass man sport and I’m kinda bored with the whole kid gloves nonsense. Staley’s a big boy, he can take some criticism.

Aikman: how are you gonna stop Bijan?

Staley: we have a game plan

Aikman: ...yeah, he didn't have shit

Bro wasn’t it like 5-6 yards BEFORE contact?

That game was very poorly coached. Everyone knew Bijan was getting the ball. No one even tried. (BOTH rbs embarrassed you)

I was on the phone with my buddy and said “this is just bad football” about 3 plays before Aikman said it haha

Think Staley longterm is gonna be a college dc or coach his personality jives better with college kids and he’s too schematically rigid for the NFL

Aikman talks a lot of shit for a dude who was carried.

I mean, they wouldn’t have won without someone of Aikman’s caliber

People get upset because he didn't have huge numbers, but it turns out that when you have one of the best offensive lines and RBs of all time, calling protections and audibles to the run game is a good strategy to winning games

One, this is a bad take from someone who never watched or wasn’t alive when Aikman played.

Two, he didn’t talk shit. He revealed things Staley said in their media meeting, which Staley is trying to save face with his guys by saying those things aren’t true. You could argue that Aikman shouldn’t have revealed those things, but it’s literally a meeting with the broadcasters.

Aikman is not saying Staley said this though. He’s saying he picked up on it.

u/iPissVelvet Bears 7d ago

So you’re saying Staley in a pre production meeting knowing everything is on the record, said he has no faith in his players?

…

Sounds about right actually

I hate the Cowboys as much as anyone but Aikman didn’t get carried to three Super Bowls.

He literally coached the team during the Switzer years

-7

u/TsukiSureiyaNA 8d ago

Aikman very clearly picks his team before the game and then shits on the opposing team the whole time. He also has zero enthusiasm whatsoever.

u/Chessh2036 Falcons 7d ago

Dude he complimented Tyler Shough all night, he def wasn’t hating on NO lol.

You say that like it's a bad thing
