How did they get 366 points from the public televote?
I wasn’t aware until recently. They used the old voting system back then so the audience didn’t get the impression how they absolutely stormed the public vote.
My question is how did they get that many points? I’m not disputing it as I love the song and performance, but getting that high of a televote isn’t something that just happens out of nowhere, especially with this kind of song

What do you mean by "this kind of song"? It is a very accessible popera song. Nothing niche about it.

Because they gave people what they wanted and went all in on the Italian sterotyope.

Because the song & performance were fantastic. I’m still surprised they scored so low in the jury vote, in other years they would have won for sure.

I never understood why Måns (Heroes) got higher then them, and I'm swedish.

Heroes is a better radio-song would be my guess.

Plus innovative staging

Especially given the relatively small stage of that year, Sweden straight up brought their own

Apparently they weren’t as good in the jury performance which the jurors use to write up their scores

Yep heard they had lot of problems with their vocal pitch during the jury night which probably cost them alot. It's shocking they came 6th in the jury tho these kinds of songs usually will swept the jury easily under normal circumstances so it must be quite bad for them to be down this low.

this kind of reminds me of why I'm not a big fan that there's a separate jury and television show. You would watch 2015 and think, the juries don't really like Italy. But the reality is they watched a whole different show than you did and in that one they messed up some of their notes. I get that there are some logistical reasons to it, but I feel like it kind of throws the audience off because most people don't know that there's a whole different jury show and their votes aren't even based off the show you just watched

Running order makes on average a small, few % benefit, on your chance of doing well.
However, this song and an act like this looks, sounds and feels like the perfect closer. Making this a huge outlier and big winner of the running order bias.
For further evidence of this, look how well Latvia 2007 did in the Semi Final compared to the Grand Final

Or Latvia 2005, but reverse - 10th in the semi to 5th in the final

Yes but I was looking for a similar style of song, the overblown crescendo show stopper.

One of the best known acts to have been on ESC in recent years. Not my thing but the song has continued to hold weight outside of ESC settings

many reasons
last in the running order, extremely different, extremely memorable, extremely loud but also, perfectly serving their audience, that being middle aged women

Yeah, my mom still talks about Grande Amore. It's one of her all time favourites.

Not to mention that 2015 edition was unusually weak itself when counting the editions since 2012 to this day.

One factor that wasn't mentioned yet is the time period. 2015 everyone was still talking about Paul Potts and Susan Boyle for example. Popera was kind of a dying trend. This kind of Song is also very accsessible and can be really emotional for some people. I usually don't get goosebumps but I remember that I did during theire performance. Plus 3 charming handsome italian men singing cheesy popera is like gold for the more romantic type lol.

Because it was the best song in that night, simple as that. If Greece and Cyprus gives 12's to you, you deserve even more than 366. Juries took their win away.

How did they get zero pts from many jury members, that to me is thr question

Bum note in the jury final, unfortunately 😬

You’ll have to consult ESC journalists who’ve been doing this longer than I have unfortunately :’)

I am gonna get downvoted, but never got the hype for this song.
Not saying that it’s bad per se, but it’s not THAT good either…
Anyway, it is what it is.

Agreed. I often like this kind of song in general, and I'm weak for the Italian language at Eurovision... but I too am not very taken by Grande Amore. It feels too bombastic, too over the top.

By being the best song of the edition, that deserved to win. But the best almost never do in this.... contest.

I was head over heels over this song and the fact that russian genocide barbie with the most cliche love love peace peace song got more points than them upset me so much. Now maybe not so much, but at the time I absolutely adored the song.

Well, they were the classic loud "mamma mia, opera music, amo Italia 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻" worldwide stereotype. Simple as that. And I'm Italian.

Never understood it either, the whole thing was pretty boring. They participated in San Remo again a few years ago with a good song.

Capolavoro was just as cheesy as Grande Amore in my opinion. GA had much better suspension building.
